Is this compatible with the WD Caviar Green WD20EARX Harddrive? My Sata USB Bridge isn't working and the hdd isn't recognized. Is this the right tool for something like this?

Thank you for all very much for your replies! I've read that most WD External HDD are encrypted therefore making any recovery tool useless! I've run so many different recovery tools and none of them worked. So I've narrowed it down to either replacing the sata to usb bridge board or attempting to use this. My only worry with this is that it won't recognize it due to the WD encryption. Has anyone else had experience with this? Also, how does this brand compare to others out there? Thanks!

Can you connect DVD or CD drives to it?

Have not tested that but it does have standard PATA and SATA connections. It would need to be ATAPI compliant for non-HDD's to function through those interfaces.

Will it work with the newer 4 TB SATA III drives?

I would not know about that. I used it to transfer files. due to a new motherboard that only had sata connectiona and  could not connect to my IDE DVD drive, and older Ide drives.
