Pros: Easy to figure out
plug and play
novice friendly
Cons: I hate those power supply plugs that take up two or more spaces on a power strip, and this has one of those.
Overall Review: I was transferring my OS within seconds of opening the box, and I'm not a tech savvy kind of guy. My cousin told me what to buy and what program to use. If you can look at the connectors and match them up to each other, you can use this.
Everything you need - works perfect!7/14/2017 8:53:26 AM
Pros: Everything you need for most internal drives. Worked perfect.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: Have a few old desktop computers laying around. I'm able to pull the drives out, fire them up access the data on the old drives. No issues, it just worked like you'd hope
Pros: - Works with lots of different devices (2.5" and 3.5" drives for sure, I personally haven't tested with any legacy IDE devices)
- Has standard adapters, which can be used for other purposes (i.e. molex to test a case fan without having to fire up a PSU)
- Lots of different adapters
Cons: - Lots of different adapters
Overall Review: I bought this to replace a similar StarTech adapter that mysteriously failed. All in all, I would say this kit is an upgrade, since I appreciate being able to use the SATA data and power adapters independently. I can see the flip side though - the StarTech kit was a single piece (plus the 12V adapter) while this one has multiple separate pieces you have to fiddle with to connect a drive.
A worthy addition to my PC building / maintenance toolkit.
Pros: I finally built my own computer and had a ton of what I thought were corrupted hard drives dating back to the 90s from different computers and "dead" external hard drives. I was able to hook this up to all the drives and pull all the media I wanted - stuff I thought I had lost forever. Great...
Overall Review: Perfect to pull data from old hard drives, simple and easy.
Pros: I was able to bring back all my old hard drives(pictures, old programs)
I removed old hard drives from old computers plugged them in and worked like charm.
Power and data flowed perfectly. Pay the extra money and be ready for anything, buy this ONE!!!!
Cons: Several pieces that might get lost over time.
Overall Review: I've not used mine, but I purchased it because we have one at work and it does what it is supposed to do. I have some hard drives that I removed from old computers and I want to be sure there is nothing on them before disposing or repurposing.
Pros: My 2009 Acer M1202 running Win 10 and MS Office 2007 had a blue screen crash when the boot sector failed. Desperate to recover many files, I ordered the Tripp Lite device with UPS Ground ($) for quicker deliver. In just a couple of days it arrived and within hours I was recovering documents, user manuals, and file downloads. Worked so well that on first boot of the host computer, it too came up with the blue screen boot error! Simple, just powered Acer drive off, booted HP, then powered Acer drive. All well from there. Oh, the Acer HD was 5.25 inch SATA and wouldn't fit my Wavlink Commumicator D3. Tripp Lite saved what little hair I have left!
Cons: Cannot think of any negatives except equipment is necessarily spindly as required by so many possible drives with which it can be used. Use care and all is well.
Overall Review: If you need this adapter, get it. If you have a house full of computers as I do (no, this isn't a school!), have one handy for the eventual need. I would buy another if needed and strongly recommend that to you.
