Ear Force X-52 headphones give PC gamers a competitive edge by reproducing 5.1 surround sound via eight (8) high-quality speakers. Unlike stereo headphones, the X-52's can reproduce 3D positional sound cues that are otherwise obtainable only with surround sound speaker systems, which are inconvenient to set up and often disturb others online or nearby. Plugs directly into 5.1 surround sound cards.
Pros: Extremely comfortable, even after prolonged gaming sessions (even when wearing glasses) of several hours straight. Removable mic works great though the arm may be an inch or two too short. Comes with nice, long cord with 2 velcro straps attatched for tidying it up. The directional sound is very good once you get the inline control set to your liking.
Cons: The plastic can make popping-sounds and, although mostly due to your movement, they can be a little distracting. The in-line volume control is HUGE (1" wide, 5" long and 1/2" thick at it's largest). It's best left to sit on the desk somewhere (mine's behind my keyboard).
Overall Review: These are much more comfortable and balanced than the Zalman headset. Already I have had a buddy try them on for 5 minutes and get a set himself.

Pros: Good sound quality for the price. I've been startled several times while gaming with this headset on. 5.1 effects are noticable (ie: having a character speaking to your rear right, you can tell he's back there.) The mic seems to work well once you get it dialed in correctly with your system (as all mics seem to need). Well worth the money.
Cons: Headset can become slightly uncomfortable due to pressure on the ears. I've only noticed it where it pushes the arm of my glasses into the side of my head. Not a huge problem in my opinion.

X-52 a good headset12/19/2008 10:05:36 PM
Pros: The headset appears to be built well enough to me. The audio quality is excellent. Surround sound works pretty well in games. They are very comfortable and fit my big head.
Cons: None, they work as expected.
Overall Review: I was using a $20 set of brand name headphones. This set blows it out of the water. The bass is good, but not as strong as I would have liked. The highs and mids rival headsets that cost much more. It is pretty big, so it is best used at home. If I used a 5.1 speaker system, I would annoy my family, so these make a good substitute. I tried these headphones while playing Crysis, and I heard things in the game I have not heard before. Newegg, as always, had the package at my door in record time. Newegg is one of few online retailers that I trust implicitly. Thanks Newegg for another order gone well.
Pros: The sound of these is actually quite good. Better than I expected for the price. I have several multi-hundred dollar headphones (none 5.1 however), and these can actually compete. Their lesser sound quality is made up for the fact that they have a wider range of soundscape, due to the 5.1. In fact, the bass on these is maybe the best I've ever heard on any headphones, surprisingly. Really gets your attention.
Cons: Do you need a pair of headphones for the flight deck of a military aircraft carrier, surrounded by jet blasts from catapulting F-18 Hornets? These would be the headphones for you. It is difficult to wear these for more than an hour before pain sets in. Not auditory pain, but real physical pain - from getting your head crushed in. Tight? Just a little. You could probably bungee jump with these things on, without any worries. I ride a motorcycle, so I know about head sizes and helmet sizing. I have an average to small head, FYI.
Overall Review: Because these headphones are made for small heads (like 10 year old child small), they are not only very tight, but the ear cups wind up not actually surround the ear (circumaural), but instead resting directly on the ears (supra-aural). Also, because the 4 speakers on each side take up a lot of room, there turns out to be no distance between the speakers and your ears - the speakers are effectively resting right on your ears. I really wish there was a way to distance your ears from the speakers a bit, as this would help with the spacial properties of the surround sound. I'd have given up the 'folding' feature for some actual ear padding. It's too bad, the sound is quite good, but the framework encasing it is mediocre at best.

Comfortable & Good Sound Quality11/8/2008 7:09:50 PM
Pros: Given the price and the quality of sound, this is an excellent buy. The headphones are extremely comfortable and offer the option of using or disconnecting the microphone. I've heard better sound quality, but for the price these are very good. They easily compare to $100+ studio headphones. Bass response is excellent.
Cons: Sometimes the bass can be a little too much. They don't do a good job of isolating sound (i.e., ambient noise can be heard).
Overall Review: Comes with an 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter. Comes with a dongle that allows you to use the 5.1 output on your soundcard/motherboard. Also allows plain 'ole stereo input.
Pros: Sound works fine, the 5.1 functions as it should, sounds nice.
Cons: Made extremely poorly. The ear cups are only held on to the head strap by a single small screw, with a very small head, that holds the ear cup in place by screwing up tight to a cheap plastic ridge inside the screw hole on the mounting bracket. In less than a month, the screw on one side has ripped the plastic ridge out of the hole. Would it have been to difficult for them to use a pan headed screw and screw it tight to the actual surface rather than relying on a wafer thin ridge of plastic? The ear cup is now tied to the mounting bracket with a piece of wire, temporarily.
Overall Review: Gave this headset to my brother as a gift for Christmas. After owning the Turtle Beach EarForce HPA for a couple years now, I am very disappointed in the quality of this headset's construction.

Pros: Has not Broke, no weird noises, feels great against ears, 5.1 is amazing. Quality > Price
Cons: people that haven't got a 5.1 sound card give bad reviews, lol
Overall Review: I have dropped this headset several times and have to say there is no damage to them at all. I would definatly buy this headset again :D
Pros: Comfortable. Affordable. Great sound quality. I upgraded from the HPA2 earforces that i bought a couple years back. These are way better and much cheaper.
Cons: It doesn't give me a car.
Overall Review: I'd definitely recommend to anyone who wants 5.1 surround sound and comfortable headset all in one to buy these.
