for building to building do they have to be on the out side of the buildings?  On of the buildings is a metal and the other is brick.

Accepted Answer

Brick and metal are the biggest signal killers so most likely not. We have ours mounted inside our brick and metal buildings however we stuck them window to window and the signal also has to go through a mess of trees. Point to Point is 500ft. We get -76dB signal which works well for us.

Question 2

I'm trying to set up wifi from our wifi modem to my mother-in-laws mobile home which ours is too but she can get a signal but it's not a strong or even fair connection.  What should we use so she has wifi in her home too?

Accepted Answer

You can use a set of these "you can think of them as a wireless cable" and then use another WiFi router connected to the EZ-Bridge at your mother-in-laws to provide a hot spot that she can connect to. Don't forget to set up the WiFi in your mother-in-laws house to NOT be the DHCP server, this will let the router in your house manage all the connections without interference.

Question 3

I have Three buildings and one of the buildings has the internet.  Do we need two complete sets to tie all of the buildings together.  Is this the right system for this application?

Yes, This system is point-to-point, so you would need two sets to tie both other buildings to the one with internet.

Question 4

I want to extend wifi to an outbuilding. Does using a point-to-point system affect wifi speed?

Accepted Answer

Speed? no. Bandwidth? maybe. This system is very snappy, our barn net was loading faster than our house net ironically. It is hooked up to a beefier AP in the barn though. The limitation is in the bandwidth at 15mbs on the link but our net is 10mbs anyways so didn't affect us.
