I assume this adapter is Win7/8 compatible. However, I'm trying to confirm before I order then have to go thru the hassle of returning. Can anyone confirm ?

USB3 --> Gigabit Adapter worked perfectly. I was able to run about 980Mbps from my SDR radio.  I would recommend this adapter with no hesitation at all.

This adapter requires host drivers to function.  If you are asking if you can plug it into the USB port on your TV to connect it to the internet, the answer is probably no.  It needs a computer on the USB side to know how to talk to the network adapter chip inside.  Your TV probably would have no idea what to do with an ethernet adapter connected to its USB port.

if you have a router in home OUR YOUR FRIEND OR PUBLIC PLACE you can get signal from your router OR ANY PUBLIC ROUTER just go setting  on your table and configure the wifi connection to OPEN SOME WHEN THEY DETECT A SIGNAL THEY REQUIRE THE KEY FOR THAT ROUTER TO GET SIGNAL WHEN IS PUBLIC THEY NO REQUIRED KEY.

IF NO ROUTER BUT YOU HAVE SIGNAL BY R45 SO YOU CAN USE THE GIGABIT ETHERNET ADAPTER BUT SOME DEVICE NEED THE DRIVER TO GET WORK HOPE THE PRODUCT COME WITH A DISK FRO  DIFFERENCE DEVICE CHECK IF APPLY FOR ANDROI SOME TIME IS JUST PLUG AND PLAY, GOOD LUCK.

I have a zebra GX430t without Ethernet but only a USB connecting to my PC. I'd like to turn it into a network printer (with a static IP) by using this adapter so it can be physically connected to our network (a extra ethernet socket is available on the wall), is this just my dream? This is a "client side" adapter, that means it is designed for talking to a "Host" Operating System on the USB side.  The USB port on your printer is a "client side" port as well.  You can't plug two client side devices together, neither will talk to the other.  What you need is a USB print server.  They are about the same price as this unit here, and will do exactly what you are wanting to do.

Has anyone tried this on a Mac? Does it work?

I tried this on my 2013 MacBook Pro and it did not work not work; it wasn't recognized.  I did not try installing any additional drivers.  There is a driver for the Mac available on Vantec's website.

The device worked instantly on my Surface Pro 2.

Transfer speed is the speed of the ethernet.
Ethernet is usually automatically selected by the computer so you don't have to set anything.

Will this work on a tv?  I have a tv that is not wifi ready and does not have an ethernet port.  It does have a USB port, and so I want to plug in an Ethernet wireless adaptor--a bridge device--so I can stream from an online instant video provider. The bridge only connects via ethernet. (Trendnet TEW-680MB, 450 Mbps Dual Band Wireless N HD Media Bridge)

I wouldn't count on it. TV's tend to operate on software specific to the manufacturer. For this adapter to work with it, the manufacturer would have to release an update that included a driver for this adapter.

I'm feeling a litle wooden headed at the moment.  Can this possibly out perform the built-in Ethernet port on my Lenovo IdeaPad--which only connects even with direct ethernet at 100Mbps----MAX.?

In theory, yes.  But I highly doubt you have an Ideapad that is so old that it only has a 100mb ethernet adapter, but would have a USB 3.0 port.  If your gigabit network adapter is only connecting at 100mb, there is something else going on.  Your router or switch might be 100mb, then your machine will only connect at 100mb, etc.
