how do you plug in a mic ?

On the left side of the unit there are 2 jacks. plug your microphone into the one labeled mono or L. I suppose if you have 2 mics plug into the R side and you can record in stereo. I use my unit as an input to my laptop from my record player for digitizing vinyl LPs. Good Luck.

any one used this with windows 10?

All it uses is the Audio port on your computer.  If your computer has standard audio port which I think all do,  it should work just fine with Windows 10.  I use it with Windows 7 and it works great.  Of course you may need some software to capture the audio.  I expect Windows Media Player would do it but I only use Goldwave.  The best there is.

I am a composer and want 16 discreet channels as outputs. Could I connect 2 of these go get the 16 channels sound SIMULTANEOUSLY in win10 or 7?

Look for "composite audio device" or "aggregate audio device" in your DAW. Windows doesn't do it by itself. ASIO4ALL should allow you to do it. Mac has composite audio device support built in. The two NBA-200Us would act as one composite device.

Will this work with my MAC?

Device works to enable computers including PCs and Macs that do not have line-in audio inputs, but have USB inputs, to accept inputs from audio devices such as tape recorders, etc,. that have line-out or headphone outputs.

Is this compatible for Windows 10 ?  Cause I spoke to Vantec about a year ago and was told that this is not compatible.  Was thinking this might be a new one.

This one works perfectly with Windows 10, but you have to go directly to their website to download a new driver for Windows 10. It can decode 5.1 sound also pretty well when watching Netflix or Playing DVD, but I don't have any luck with 7.1 yet when trying with Blu-ray disc, guessed the trouble comes from the player software, not this sound card

I've been searching for a way to turn my three speaker systems into one true surround sound system- for my smart tv, not computer. Would this be able to achieve that, or is it specifically reliant on a computer os?

This requires a computer OS.  The connectivity is a USB connection to a computer and the OS drivers are required.  I doubt this would work with any other type of device.
