Currently I am using a tv as my computer monitor because I like to run my cable of same tv. Now I would like to set up a multiple monitor display but still want the sound on my tv to come out my monitor speakers. Would this monitor fit my needs and will it last?

I purchased this monitor for a build for a customer. Although this monitor comes with speakers they are very low powered. If your computer graphics card has HDMI outputs you can output from graphics card to HDMI input on the back of monitor for both video and audio. The inputs on the Viewsonic are found under the back panel. If you are already using your HDMI to your tv just use the DVI out on your graphics card to DVI in on your monitor and audio line out from your computer audio card to monitor audio in for sound. As far as how long this monitor will last I have found most all of these are pretty reliable. If this information has helped please let me know.

Can i remove the stand on the bottom? I am buying 3 for a triple monitor setup and im buying a triple monitor mounting stand so i need to remove the stand on the screen itself

No. All controls including the power buttom, the speaker, and connections are located on the stand. There are also no mounting holes to mount this on another stand.

How do you get the sound to work. I can only listen with headphones on and it says the speakers are working fine?

Sorry, only use it as a monitor on a video system.  I know some monitors have a spot in the menu to setup the head phone volume.  There may be something there that disables the speakers. Also try inserting and removing the head phone jack an number of times.  The speaker bypass contacts in the jack maybe hanging up.

Based on the specifications provided in the specifications of this page they appear to be 19.7" x 15.4" x 7.1" (w/stand).

Is this monitor compatible with a Mac Mini on OS 10.6 or 10.7?

Not sure why a monitor wouldn't be compatible with a certain version of an O/S. I am using it with a newer mac mini. It works fine for me.
