Question 1

Is the VX2428A worth choosing over a 144Hz 1080p monitor?

Accepted Answer

The VX2428A supports up to 180Hz, compared with 144Hz on a 144Hz alternative, so it offers a higher refresh-rate ceiling for games and systems that can produce more than 144 frames per second. If your games typically run at or below 144 fps, the extra refresh-rate headroom may matter less; compare price, stand adjustments, and connectivity as well.

Question 2

Should I upgrade from a 60Hz monitor to the VX2428A for PC gaming?

Accepted Answer

The VX2428A is a meaningful option if your PC can run games above 60 fps: its 180Hz display can show refreshes more frequently than a 60Hz monitor. It is especially aligned with ViewSonic’s budget competitive-gaming positioning. If your PC or games stay near 60 fps, the higher refresh-rate capacity will not be fully used.

Question 3

Should I get the ViewSonic VX2428A or a 27-inch 1440p gaming monitor?

Accepted Answer

Choose the VX2428A if you prefer a compact 23.8-inch Full HD display and want to prioritize high frame rates at 1080p. Choose a 27-inch 1440p model, such as ViewSonic’s VX2728J-2K, if you want a sharper image and more screen space; rendering at 1440p also requires more graphics processing. Both models are IPS monitors rated up to 180Hz.

Question 4

Is the ViewSonic VX2428A suitable for both gaming and everyday computer work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Its 23.8-inch 1080p IPS screen, anti-glare finish, and 180Hz refresh rate make it suitable for gaming as well as common office tasks and browsing. The stand adjusts only for tilt, and the Full HD resolution may be limiting if you want more desktop workspace.

Question 5

Can the VX2428A run at 180Hz with my computer?

Accepted Answer

The monitor supports up to 180Hz, but your computer’s graphics hardware, connection, cable, and display settings must also support that refresh rate. It has HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort inputs; check your device’s output capabilities and select 180Hz in its display settings if available.

Question 6

Does the ViewSonic VX2428A have built-in speakers?

Accepted Answer

No. The VX2428A has no built-in speakers. It includes a 3.5mm audio output for compatible headphones or external speakers.

Question 7

Can I mount the ViewSonic VX2428A on a monitor arm?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It supports a 100 × 100 mm VESA mount, so it can be attached to a compatible monitor arm. Its included stand offers tilt adjustment only.

Question 8

Is the VX2428A worth considering as a 1080p gaming upgrade?

Accepted Answer

It is a candidate if you want a 24-inch 1080p IPS monitor with a high refresh rate for gaming. A Reddit discussion specifically considers it as an upgrade from a lower-resolution display, but whether it is worth the price depends on the current price and competing options.

Question 9

What are the main trade-offs compared with other 24-inch gaming monitors?

Accepted Answer

The VX2428A combines a 1080p IPS panel, 180Hz refresh rate, and FreeSync, but the listed specifications include tilt-only stand adjustment, 250 cd/m² brightness, and no built-in speakers. Reddit discussions compare it with other budget gaming monitors, so check the competing model’s price and features before choosing.

Question 10

Is it still useful if my PC cannot reach 180 FPS?

Accepted Answer

It may still suit a system that does not consistently reach 180 FPS: the monitor supports FreeSync, and a VX2428A owner on Reddit describes benefiting from adaptive sync without always reaching the monitor’s maximum refresh rate. The 180Hz ceiling alone does not guarantee that games will run at 180 FPS.
