Question 1

Is the VisionTek DLX4 worth choosing over the DLX3?

Accepted Answer

Choose the DLX4 for a PCIe 4.0 system when its higher advertised sequential speeds—up to 5,200/4,370 MB/s versus the DLX3’s 3,300/2,900 MB/s—are useful to your workload. The DLX3 may be a suitable fit when its listed speeds are sufficient or you are prioritizing a PCIe 3.0 drive. Check your system’s supported interface and current prices before deciding.

Question 2

VisionTek DLX4 1TB or Samsung 990 PRO 1TB—which should I buy?

Accepted Answer

Choose the VisionTek DLX4 if its advertised speeds of up to 5,200 MB/s read and 4,370 MB/s write meet your needs. Choose the Samsung 990 PRO if you want higher advertised sequential speeds—up to 7,450/6,900 MB/s—and its 1GB DRAM cache. Both are M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 drives with AES 256-bit encryption; actual performance depends on the system and workload.

Question 3

Will this VisionTek DLX4 fit a Steam Deck or another device that needs an M.2 2230 SSD?

Accepted Answer

Do not assume it will fit. The provided Newegg title and specifications identify this 1TB model as M.2 2280, while the listing bullet mentions M.2 2230. VisionTek sells DLX4 drives in separate 2230 and 2280 form factors. Confirm the exact model number and required SSD length for your device before buying; a 2280 drive is longer than a 2230 slot.

Question 4

Should I get the VisionTek DLX4 or spend more on the DLX4 Pro?

Accepted Answer

The standard DLX4 is a sensible choice if its advertised 5,200 MB/s read and 4,370 MB/s write speeds meet your needs. Consider the DLX4 Pro when you need its higher advertised sequential speeds and onboard DRAM cache. The available review compares the Pro with a different SSD, not the standard DLX4, so it does not establish a direct real-world performance advantage between these two models.

Question 5

Is this SSD suitable for gaming and everyday work?

Accepted Answer

It can suit a compatible computer used for everyday work, applications, and games. It has 1 TB of capacity and lists sequential speeds of up to 5,200 MB/s read and 4,370 MB/s write. Actual performance depends on the computer, workload, cooling, and available storage space.

Question 6

Will this SSD fit my laptop or desktop?

Accepted Answer

It is an M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 drive, so the computer must support that form factor and interface. The provided product data is inconsistent: the title and specifications say 2280, but one bullet says 2230. Confirm the drive size against VisionTek’s documentation and your computer’s manual before buying. A compatible PCIe slot may also run it at a lower speed than PCIe 4.0.

Question 7

Can I use this SSD in an external M.2 enclosure?

Accepted Answer

It is an internal M.2 NVMe drive and may be used in an enclosure that explicitly supports M.2 NVMe drives and the drive’s form factor. External transfer speeds will depend on the enclosure, its interface, and the connected computer; the SSD’s listed PCIe speeds may not be achievable over USB.

Question 8

Does this SSD include a heatsink?

Accepted Answer

No. The product specifications say it does not include a heatsink. Check whether your computer provides an M.2 heatsink or other cooling, particularly if the drive will be used under sustained heavy workloads.

Question 9

Is the DLX4 a stable replacement drive?

Accepted Answer

Reddit reports are mixed: some owners describe their DLX4 as stable or trouble-free, while others report heat or drive problems in particular systems. These are user reports about different DLX4 versions, not controlled reliability data for this 1TB model. Its listed endurance rating is 500 TBW.

Question 10

Will this DLX4 fit in my PC or handheld?

Accepted Answer

Check the device’s supported M.2 length before buying. The specifications say M.2 2280, but the supplied bullet description says M.2 2230, so confirm the exact SKU and dimensions with the seller. Reddit discussions about other DLX4 versions also raise fit concerns in handhelds; those reports do not confirm fit for this 1TB listing.
