I'm not sure Wilm. You should check with AMD on that. I actually purchased the card for someone else since they needed a lesser card to drive a third monitor on their system.

The short answer is possibly.  That card is a PCIe so it will fit the motherboard and the power supply that comes on that model should be more than capable of handling it. However, feedback from the apple support forum shows only the list the following as compatable:

Graphics cards for Mac Pro (Early 2008)

ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (part number 630-9191 or 630-9897)
    NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600
    ATI Radeon HD 4870, offered as an upgrade kit
    Note: The Radeon HD 4870 card requires Mac OS X v10.5.7 or later.

Furthermore, I know that when trying to build a "hackintosh" (PC that runs apple OS) only certain components are compatible due to something with the software.  I'd recommend they contact someone in the apple support staff to get a more definitive answer.

Are you referring to Windows 2000?  If so, then the card would likely run using generic graphics modes, or at the very best it would be severely limited by the lower version of Direct X.  The driver package appears to be for Windows 7 and later.
