Will the handset stand upright on it's own?

No. The handset is slim and although if you're careful you might get it to stand on its own for a minute or so, but any bump or vibration will make it fall over.

What kind of range does this handset have from the base before sound quality suffers?

I am not sure, but I am able to take the headset to my bedroom which is about 80 ft from the base. I have had no problems with this phone.

No its is not mountable on the wall how ever this phone is really good never had problems and i got this phone for cheap. Phone os definitely a good buy.

Does this work with magicjack? I own a Vtech now and dialing buttons do not work after a call is connected.

I have no experience with Magic Jack. I can say that with my Cox digital voice service through cable the dialing buttons DO work after a call is connected.

i'm on my 3rd v tech phone.  Always buy cheapest model. Single line, home
use only. Very dependable, no problems or complaints, recommended.
Probably my first 2 would still work with new battery. Lasted several yrs. I
do not believe this phone to be Bluetooth capable. I use it as internet
phone with ITP VoIP. Also a very reliable co. like Vonage only less costly.
