does the tablet have to be connected via usb while using it?
or is it bluetooth?

Direct cable connect via USB 3.0/2.0.

I bought a 4-port USB hub to accommodate and extend my USB devices.  Bluetooth would be nice but is not available for this smaller model.

Can this be used to edit photos in photoshop?

Yes. This basically takes over the role of the computer mouse, allowing you to manipulate it in the way that you handle a pen.

will it let you define the drawing area?  Instead of the 6 x 3.75 equaling the entire screen   can a smaller area on the tablet equal the screen size

yes i am 99% sure you can do that,  i know in GIMP you can get the tablet to map to just the image you are editing,  but for general windows7 usage i think there is a setting to change how the physical surface maps to the screen,

It says it is not Bluetooth capable, But yet it has a slot for "WIRELESS" connection (according to the video here). So can you use it "WIRELESS"?. How often do you need to change the "NIB" on the pen?  Thanks

Some of the Wacom Intuos  come with the Wireless some do and some do not  you can upgrade with the upgrade chip/kit

I am a photographer and i use Photoshop a lot with little touch ups and some big  but i change the NIB every 3-4 months  but the more you use it the faster it will need to be changed  and you can get better NIBs that will take longer to wear down  with that said if you press down hard all the time you will need to change it more

Yes. You are able to download ArtRage 3 and Sketchbook express after buying this product. ArtRage is a really cool too. Sketchbook is well...express. The things you are able to do with Express is a little limited. I hope that answers your question.

it does not include a mouse
you can set the stylus to work like a mouse rather than having it mapped to the screen. you can still do everything a mouse does with the stylus (with the exception of scroll wheel functionality) no matter what it's set as.
that said, in my opinion it's rather unpleasant to use the pen set to relative mapping (pen) than absolute mapping (mouse).

after getting used to it you may be like me and prefer to use the stylus in pen mode all the time rather than use a normal mouse for anything other than applications where you need a mouse wheel and games.

Does this product support QHD+(3200x1800) screens?

yes.  it's a wide format tablet and because of that you will be able to make full use of the entire drawing surface with this tablet. that said, the drivers/software allow you to map it so that the portion of the drawing surface used will fit to your screen's aspect. while you do lose a bit of drawing area when you do that it's much better than drawing a circle only to have it come up on screen as an oval.

i don't think wacom even makes the older non-wide screen sizes anymore but my old Intuos 3 that i still use with my desktop is actually a 4:3 aspect tablet and it's mapped to be used with a 16:9 aspect ratio screen.

i bought this one to travel with my laptop.

Can you use this to fill in areas of a microsoft word document that requires a written response to a question written in word?  i.e. can i write in between margins/paragraph separators defined in word?

I could not, but it might be the program I am using. I can only use the virtual key pad to write on word

what wacom recomemends with a veteran drawer on what tablet to get?

OK, they won't like this, but for a veteran artist, any Wacom tablet will do. It is a tool like any other - brush, pancil, chalk - it is what you do with the tool. Just give yourself time to get used to it. I have all different sizes and featured tables on my 23 Macs. Once you are used to a tablet, they all feel the same when you are using them, so if you are just starting with a tablet, get a Bamboo or Graphire - they are inexpensive, and lack only the (mostly useless) bells and whistles of the more expensive models.
