Does it scan from a lcd display, and/or from smartphone screens?

I have no way to check if the reader will work on a LCD display.

But, I took a picture of a barcode with an iPhone and it did read it, bringing it up onscreen in our POS program.

So it will scan a label printed barcode and then goes into an excel spreadsheet. or whatever document you need?

Yes it will. If by chance the barcode is a non-standard type you can program the scanner by scanning the programming barcodes in the manual. The scanner is treated like a keyboard.

We currently have a wasp 3905 bar code scanner.  We bought
what we thought was a exact back up.  It turns out to be a
3950 does not seem to work as well as 3905.  Is it an 
exact replacement?
