    The HEATKILLER RAD series

The HEATKILLER RAD series is how Watercool expanded its product portfolio with mesh radiators. There are two strengths: the Small (S) RADs are 30 mm thick and the Large (L) RADs 48 mm, which makes this 480-S the slim one for a case with less room. Watercool also names an optimized performance, compact dimensions and high-quality workmanship. In the same series we stock the HEATKILLER RAD 240-S Black for a two-fan spot.

Finishing and quality control in Germany

Watercool says it worked in cooperation with a well-known manufacturer from Asia, and the two have succeeded in creating a high-performance mesh radiator with a unique look. The cooling cores are manufactured strictly in accordance with Watercool's specifications. The radiator housing is produced directly on Watercool's premises in Waren, which means the assembly and quality control are ultimately performed in Germany.

High cooling performance over the entire speed range

The goal of the development was to produce competitive radiators with a wide performance range. Accordingly, the RAD provides a very good cooling performance with slow rotating fans, and that performance scales very well with increasing speed. If you want maximum cooling performance, it can of course also run in push/pull mode, with fans on both sides.

The best raw materials in use

Only high quality raw materials are used as the basis for the HEATKILLER RAD. Both the pre-chamber and the cooling channels are made of brass, and the cooling fins are made of copper. The side panels are laser-cut from 1 mm thick steel plates or stainless steel, and subsequently brushed or powder-coated in black or white depending on the finish; on this model they are brushed stainless steel. Brushed stainless steel front sides significantly contribute to the exclusive look.

Easy integration into the cooling circuit

The integration into the cooling circuit is done through two standard G1/4 inch threads. The required connections are not included in the scope of delivery, so plan on two fittings sized for your tube. With a small width of only 120 mm the radiator ensures a maximum of flexibility when you plan its spot, and it takes four 120 mm fans.

    Technical data

    • Dimensions: 518 x 120 x 30 mm
    • Weight: 1.14 kg
    • Color: Brushed Stainless Steel
    • Connectors: 2 x G1/4" thread
    • Fan compatibility: 120 mm fans

    Notes

    • Screws may not penetrate deeper than 5 mm into the radiator, because longer screws might damage the pipes. The mounting material in Watercool's instructions is M3x30 and M3x5, 4 per fan.
    • The side panels can be removed for maintenance with a Torx TX8 driver; fan mounting takes a Phillips PH0.
    • Watercool recommends demineralized or deionized (distilled) water with a suitable corrosion inhibitor as coolant, and names Mayhem's XT-1, Innovatek Protect and Aquacomputer Double Protect.
