Does this product plug into the wall and it works from there without using the Ethernet cable?

Yes. If you're using it as a Wi-Fi extender just plug it into the wall halfway between your current Wi-Fi router and where you want to use it.  Note, it's easier to configure it by connecting it to your computer by Ethernet, but after that just plug it in the wall.

what is the range of this wifi? 10000? 1000 feet?

It's not so much the range as the drop off in speed with range. While you're device will see the signal up to about 100 feet, your best speeds in realistic use will be within 30 feet. Obstructions like walls and floors will of course reduce this further. I have this plugged into the outlet on the opposite side, same floor as my Nighthawk router (house is approx 2800 sq ft). This extends usable coverage for my wifi to the back half of the house and most of the yard. This is pretty much the intention of the device and I wouldn't recommend using it for a primary router despite it's capability to do so.

Is this 5G? Will it work with 5G?

If you mean 5 Ghz, the frequency for the 802.11 ac, then yes.  And will work with your phone since most phones today are 802.11 ac or n.  If you are referring to 5G as in the cellular network technology, that technology is not related to home wifi or this device.

Don't know that the color makes a difference. I have the white one that I got on sale some time ago. If you're concerned, go with your gut. Otherwise, the return policy is great! I don't see how you would lose, either way.

can you daisey chain extenders?

Yes, if you must.

I had 2 of them chained for a few months, but eventually took them down & replaced them with a second router & 1000ft of ethernet to avoid the speed loss..

When you have them set to repeater mode, your cell phone will get very confused if the network name is the same, because the repeaters will not always use the same IP address although your phone will assume that it is the same IP address, if that makes sense.. We tried this with a security wifi camera system and it caused a bunch of problems.

You can Daisy Chain, but you should use a different network name for each repeater or AP, and the speed will be seriously affected, although not unusable.. IMO you're better off buying a roll of Ethernet cable, and using one good router to avoid speed loss.
