The Artic Accelero L2 Plus cooler will not fit. The following coolers will fit the AMD 6900 series cards:

Will this fit a Radeon HD 6800 in a crossfire config? Hoping it will as it mentions other 6800 series compatibilities.

It did in my computer just fine, there's more room between the cards than you think, and that is taken into account when it comes to building a warranty proof replacement fan. It may be a lot closer to the other card than you hoped, but it will fit.

Yes, I took an AMD Firepro card that we removed from a workstation due to overheating errors and resurrected it with one of these fans.  I re-purposed the work station and it has been running 24/7 for over a year now with no problems.  Install was a bit tricky trying to line up the holes on the board for mounting screws but in the end it wasn't that hard.  I would HIGHLY recommend installing one of these.

This forces some assumptions.  Given that the specified card already has a liquid-based cooling system (which can hardly be enhanced by stacking the ARCTIC Accelero L2 Plus VGA Cooler on top), one must assume that the liquid cooling system has failed, been removed by the user, and that an inexpensive substitute cooler is sought.
If the above assumption is correct, and that the purchase & installation of another (complete) video card is not an option, *and* time is of the essence, then the Accelero L2 Plus will very likely (since I haven't actually tried it) work to cool the card.  
As a first option, I'd replace the whole video card.  If that won't work, then I'd look for a liquid-based cooler to fill the spot of the old one (to somewhat approach the original cooling capacity). 
If the assumption above is not correct, then I'm not sure why you'd want to replace the liquid-based system with a dry metal heat sink.

This cooler will work fine. It is a bit of overkill though. I use these on 7850 which use a lot more power than a pci-e powered gpu. Before you buy this cooler for that card try replacing the stock thermal compound this usually dries out and cakes into a hard substance.

Take the card out and blow it out with an air compressor remembering to keep the fan from spinning. Keeping the card clean and replacing the thermal paste should drop the temps of the card.

Also the temps of the card are ok if they are under 85C. People get scared if there cards get near that temp. I have personally ran cards Nvidia and Amd at temps of 90C for days straight with no problems.
