is this definitely the 250?  i do not want the 260.

Mine shipped 9/13/2013 and is definitely the 250R.  I chose to buy from this site because most other websites weren't making a clear enough distinction of the model numbers; Newegg has been very good at labeling & selling the exact parts in the past (e.g. computer parts), so hopefully you'll be fine, like I was.

Yes I have from newegg.com it's the official 250R and I believe its on sale right now.

does this unit have serial # stamped on bottom? I had purchased another unit that was a fake.

I will check when I get home.  The heft and size of the item purchased from New Egg was the same as the older model I have.

I've read on Amazon that the new non-Hitachi Magic Wand (the HV260) runs at 10 watts while the older Hitachi Magic Wand HV250R) runs at 20 watts.  This supposedly means that the new model runs "hot" and is underpowered--overheats quickly and not as powerful vibration.  Is this true--I want something that lasts long and strong?

You're asking a question on the page for the HV250R, which is the older version; the new one is 260. If you have the chance to get the old one, I'd get it while they still carry it.
