It sounds like you are looking to transfer everything including installed software and settings as one can do with "Accessories / System Tools / Windows Easy Transfer".  Unfortunately, it seems that this cable can not be used with this software - the user's guide for this cable does not claim that this is an "Easy Transfer Cable" nor is there any mention of "Windows Easy Transfer".  It is also not included in the list of Manufacturers of "Easy Transfer Cables" on wikipedia.
This cable is meant to be used with two computers running side-by-side and allows you to use either keyboard & mouse on both computers and files can be dragged and dropped between the two computers in either direction.  As is noted by another reviewer, you need to be able to log into each computer with its own keyboard first before you can start using the J5Create to transfer files or perform KM (Keyboard Mouse) operations between them.

Will this product allow me to control a Mac Mini from the keypad of my G4 Powerbook (OS 10.5.8) and use the laptop as a monitor for the Mini?

Hello. I'm afraid this item won't work for you. Basically it requires OSX 10.6 or superior. Also the product only shares the mouse and keyboard (and provides copy/paste clipboard and file copy), but does not let you use the screen of one machine to show the desktop of the other. In other words the Mac Mini needs also a monitor with this configuration. I Hope I provided the right answer.

BTW. I tested fine OSX 10.9.1 with Windows 8.1 and the cable works perfect!

I've read that administrator rights are required for both (Windows) machines.  Anyone experience this issue?  I'm only interested in transferring files.

I use my Wormhole with numerous systems, the app itself has never asked for or required permissions, and my permissions are set a little higher than average because of the volume of machines I work on.

I use it more for the KVM feature, but I end up copying drivers and updates as I restore machines every day,  it's awesome all the way around.

Plug in, let it install once, never do anything but plug it in again on your main machine, it self hosts the installer on both ends, so it doesn't matter which is end is host, just use the tray menu to choose which side of the desktop it's on.

This device consistently produces Blue Screen of Death when connected to my 9-year-old Toshiba XP laptop.  j5create customer support suggested disk defrag and running Ccleaner which haven't helped.  Anyone solved this?

I have the same issue of BSOD.  I have to restore in safe mode or recovery console to be able to boot into windows

No. You need at least OSX 10.6(intel based) operating system or Windows 2000 for device compatibility. If you do, for some odd reason, have OSX 10.6 on your G4, then the device would be compatible. Along with that, this device does keyboard and mouse along with data. ALL video remains on original output.
