When the target humidity is reached, does both the fan and the compressor turn off? Or just the compressor? Some models turn off both and save more energy but some just turn off the compressor.

My unit is in the basement so I don't routinely listen to it.  It is very quiet so I don't know when it is running unless I'm near it.  I have notice that it is not running and when I check the unit indicator it reads the humidity level I had it set for so I'm assuming that it does shut off when the level is reached.

Does this display the humidity and the temperature?

The LED display only shows the set humidity level (at start-up), then shows the actual humidity level from then on.  It does not show the temperature.

It is also used to show error codes, when they occur.

The fan will periodically turn on to test the humidity in the air. It will also run for 30 seconds to a minutes after the compressor turns off to cool the coils down.

from other web sites: it has a full one-year parts and labor warranty and a limited 5-year sealed system warranty.
I don't remember what the warranty is and am having problems finding the manual, but I do remember one or the reasons I bought the unit was the longer (2 year?) warranty only to read in the owners manual when i received the unit that it was much shorter .  I believe it is a one year warranty.   I've been happy with unit - hopefully it will work ok this year (which will be year 2).

can you connect a hose to the tank for continuos drainage?

Yes. The humidifier includes a plastic hose-coupler-adapter. But, there is no electrical pump to force drain water up to a high window or drain-pipe. That feature is included with other brands/models, but it typically bumps the cost much higher. Instead, the Keystone humidifier can only drain water downward to a group level or lower. For example, I have attached my hose output to a sump pump situated in my basement floor.

does this unit shut off automatically when you reach the desired humidity and hoe do you set the humidity level?

You can either run it continuously with one button, or have it automatically start and stop based on a humidity level, indicated with an simple LCD on the top, adjustble by two arrows pointing up and down on either side - the humidistat is close to the humidifier end of the power cord. It will run the fan briefly before and after removing humidity as to help cool the unit.

does this dehumidifier run at low temperatures, i.e., in a basement?

Yes! Mine is in an small building in my backyard that houses my hot tub and it has worked perfectly since I bought it. The room, while unheated, maintains a temperature above freezing throughout the winter and this unit actually creates a little bit of heat so the room never gets too cold. I live in New England. In a basement you should have no problems.
