does it come in retail packaging or bulk style?

The unit was shipped in a box designed for a single unit which included the main unit, soldering pencil, wire holder, solder reel holder, brass sponge, and regular sponge.  There were a couple of screws to attach the bracket part of the solder reel holder, and also an instruction book.  As for the actual box, I've discarded it already but recall it as being a very plain brown box (not something for display on a shelf).

Are replacement tips readily available?

I received some Hakko 936 tips, yes they fit.
