I upgraded from W7 to W10, found that I was no longer able to use PaperPort, I now use the Windows Fax & Scan app .  I can however still use the DocuMate within my software program but my scans are basic B&W.

I am not sure. You may have to go up to the next model. You could call or email DocuMate. We are very happy with ours, but don't use Twain. Sorry I wasn't more helpful.

It is an autofeed system, I would say the max is approx 30 sheets. Anything more than that can cause problems. If I find the need to do more sheets I will load 15 or so at a time, and add additional sheets as it feeds.

Regarding the old photoprints and business cards, it will handle them no problem. For the photos you will likely need to change the settings, resolution ect.

Will this scanner accept laminated thicker sheets?

We scan card stock paper with it all the time, though I have not tried a laminated sheet. There is an option within the software that you have to disable which is "Detect Double Feed". If you have this option enabled, the scanner will stop when attempting to scan thinker sheets.

The only thing I would say about the laminated sheets not working is that if they are very glossy then the image may appear bright or have streaks.

It scans paper okay, but since it takes a curved path through the scanner, a rigid object like a driver's license won't scan.

Yes it will, but you must select the duplex button instead of "simplex" button when start the scan.

How much time does it take to actually scan the copies and the file to show up in pdf form on your computer?

It's quite fast.  A standard 8.5x11" page with text and graphics takes between one and two seconds to scan at up to 300 dpi.  If you set it to very-high resolutions up to 600 dpi, it takes longer, roughly 4-10 seconds.

Saving the scanned images as PDF files is very fast, perhaps a second or two.

However, if you're using the software's OCR option in order to produce PDF files with searchable text, that's a another story.  That will take a few extra seconds per page.  The actual time for the OCR step depends on the speed of your computer.
