does this come with cartridges ?

yes it come with everything u need to print. it prints nice and fast setup not hard but if u got problems get manual at xerox. it dose not come with one just a quick guide not to good real manual is like 300 plus pages in pdf format tells u everything u need to know. u can also get after market toner for it all 4 cartridges for around $80 on new egg or $200 from xerox i think u will like this printer

How does this printer work if not used every day? Sometimes I may not print for a week or two. My inkjets don't like that.

I use this printer at home office and sometimes there's several weeks that go by w/o use. When the printer is used there is a high volume of documents printed (approx 300-400 pgs) So far the printer has stood up pretty well. The printer does have a power save /sleep mode that helps quite a bit as well. And it comes back up pretty quickly with no ill effects even after several weeks

Does the extra paper tray ship with this item? It's shown in most of the pictures.

It only comes with one paper tray and a bypass slot
