Hi
I am looking at buying 2 of these to upgrade my alien ware aurora.
The specifications page lists this as a 11.61" x 5.63" the 11.61" is fine but is this really a 5 1/2 Inch thick card.
My 2 Radeon HD 6950;s are 11" x 1 1/2" thick?

Hello,

No it is not 5 1/2 inches thick, as in the height of this card if you laid it on a table and looked at it from the side. the 5 1/2 inch's is referring to the width of the card or how it looks in the first picture. It is a dual slot card and is also roughly 1 1/2 inches thick.

Question 2

So it says its CrossFireX support. Yet on the pictures it doesn't look like it has anywhere to plug in the connector that I use for my current CrossFireX. How will it work for that or am I just missing something?

Most if not all newer higher end AMD graphics cards are capable of supporting CrossFireX through the motherboard and does not require any additional connections. It may however require that the other AMD graphics card support the same style of CrossFireX (connected through the motherboard). If your current card doesn't support this feature then you will most likely run into compatibility problems.

Question 3

I'm seeing a number of reviews mentioning driver issues and crashing to desktop. Can anyone speak to whether these issues are specific to windows 10 (or 8) drivers? Anybody with windows 7 having these issues?

I have Windows 7, and it runs perfectly. My friend bought the same card at the same time and he has had issues while running Windows 10. So, I'm guessing that the newer versions of Windows are the cause. Stick with.7 for now. It's an awesome card.

(specs say that I can fit a card up to 390mm, and this one is 295mm, so it should fit, but it might block a drive or two, which is not a problem.

Corsair 650 Watt PSU
pcpartspicker says that the wattage may not be sufficient for the card and the peripherals. I am wondering if anyone is running a similar setup with good results.

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor

I wouldn't buy this card if you only have a 650W PSU. At minimum, you should have a 750W. This card runs hot and uses a lot of energy, but the performance is fantastic and all your other components should work with it. Just remember that this card is HUGE, so be prepared for that.

does it come with the display cable?

No it comes with some adapters but no actual cable. I returned the card.  I thought it had HDMI 2.0 (4k @ 60hz) I got confused researching cards. The Nvidia XFX does support HDMI 2.0.  I plan on using the credit to purchase that card. 40" monitor for programming.

Would this graphics card work with a mid sized tower? I saw that some people said that you should have a full sized tower for this.

I have mine in a mid-tower (200r) and it fits fine, more space would be better for airflow for this watm card, but it runs fine even under load. Just make sure your case has a foot of space from the pci brackets to the drive bays.

Will this card be good for Video editing with 4k footage as well as gaming. Whats the difference between these and Quad cards. Will this be compatible with a Dell T7500 Workstation computer with dimensions of  8.5" x 22.26" x 22.3" (21.59cm x 56.54cm x 56.6cm) and power consumption of 1100 watts 88% (80 Plus® Silver Certified) efficient Power Factor Correcting (PFC) power supply.

As long as you can accommodate a dual space GPU and have a 2.0 PCIe connector this should be good. I am not sure what a quad card is. If you mean a "quad card" setup.......well there are many many advantages of a really powerful card over a multiple GPU setup. You have a 1100 watt psu listed, thats enough power for most anything! This card is geared towards gaming so your 4k footage question may be a tough question to answer with out knowing what software you are using.

Hello my name is Gary and I'm considering this card to replace my XFX 6950 in an all AMD 990fx 8 core system or as  "Scorpius platform" my psu is a 750wANTEC high current. Will it be enough?

just barely. as long as you don't have more than 2 hardrives and or all your memory dimms filled. This is a power hog, just like the FX cpu you have (especially if you have the healthy OC on it, like an AMD chip is built to do!)

Will this card work with the new Z170 motherboards?

The Z170 has a PCIe 3.0 slot so it should work to it's full capabilities as long as it has a proper power supply.
