Question 1

What's the build quality on this card? Does it run quiet and cool? I've never owned an XFX card. I heard that they were one of the best AMD brands a few years ago, but people are also saying that they've declined in quality over the past few years.

I bought this card to replace a 5 year old card that was still working. It was a XFX radeon 5670 1 gig. holding on to it just in case. Though to answer your question. Build quality is excellent and it does run quiet ( at least to me its quiet ). I've had no problems with heat. I like to use AMD to build systems and knew going in that they tend to run warm; so i always bought cases that have a fair amount of fans or at least be able to put in more fans. The price point is great and I understand that you can run multiple screens . I haven't tried that as of yet. All in all though a solid card I've never been disappointed when using XFX video cards,

Question 2

Is this graphics card good for gaming and future games to come?

It's decent for current games, not top of the line, tomb raider with tressfx enabled I was getting somewhere near 45fps, batman games arkham, city and origins , I was getting around 60-45 fps. with my resolution at 1366*768 (native res of my tv) For Skyrim I can pull about 25-60 fps..lots of high res mods installed, but testing it I had no hope of running an ENB.. If price isn't much of an issue for you, I'd say get nvidia or at least the r9 series. 780 and r9 series are a big step up from the r7 series

hello does thi xfx card really have 1280 streaming processors or was there an error in labeling?

from what i can tell yes it does, i have this card installed in my brothers computer, it runs thief at max display settings absolutly no lag in the frames where as my own computer (all the parts are from 2000 or 2003) can run the game with some lag while at the lowest settings

I'm really confused by the stream processors as well.

Assuming the specs are accurate (here and on XFX's page) and that stream processors are shader cores, then based on specs and chip type this is completely identical to a stock R9 270 (and XFX's core edition of that).

Anyone know if there are 64 or 80 texture units on this and what gives with the processors?  Why would they sell two identical cards at different prices?

It is not impossible to do things like that, a major example is how Asus combined two 760s together onto one gpu. People would seem that is impossible or just overlook it, but most manufacturers nowadays know how to completely re-manufacture a gpu into what they want.

And it is possible to disable a major part of the gpu, the AMD 760K is an APU with its IGP disabled.

Is this card compatible with Windows 8?

Yes, I just called XFX about this myself and they stated that the card will work in windows 8 and 8.1. If your computer came from the factory with windows 8 (8.1) give them a quick call on how to run it (call times are very short ~2 mins as well as getting the card to work). If you upgraded to windows 8 (8.1) is the standard install and go. I went with card over the 750ti because this one does everything better. Hope this helps.

1280 steam processors vs the standard 1064ish.. how much better will it perform?

This is a very weird-looking card because of how XFX handled the core count since it actually has more cores than the reference card and as many cores as an R9 270. And since there's only about a 25-50 MHz core clock difference, you should assume it'll perform on par with a R9 270 if this matter of core count is true. And if that's the case, I'd recommend to buy it because it's cheap and good performance. To more directly answer your question, I'd expect maybe 5-10 FPS difference as far as gaming goes, but I won't claim to be the most knowledgeable so don't hold me to that :)

Has anybody over clocked this card? How much can you push it? Does it get hot and noisy then?

Not I.  I spec and build for max stability :)  
This appears to be a very good card for what I intend at factory settings (both Gaming Video and OpenCL math acceleration, depending on my mood).

And two would be twice as good.

Question 8

So i just got this card in the mail and ran gpu-z on it. It said it only has 1024 streaming processors not the 1280 as advertised. Is this right?

The r7 265 does have 1024 Stream processors (shading units).

Looks like you have to move up to the r9 series for 1280 or more (shading units)
