Question 1

1. Does this have bad coil whine? 2. I am upgrading from my R9 290x because my card now crashes my computer all the time without warning for the past 6-10 months now and I was wondering if this has any similar crashing problems?

I have noticed small amounts of coil whine when the case is open. However, once I close the case I cannot hear it. I have 2 of these watercooled, so there is little fan noise to wash out the coil whine sound, but even then it is quiet.

I have had few crashes while playing games. Keep in mind I got 2 bad cards, and I have to use driver 16.3.2 to prevent crashes (versus the newest 16.7.1 at this time). I got two of these cards a month or so after launch so I'm assuming improvements have been made since then.

I personally had a huge and long struggle to see proper performance in games anywhere near benchmarks. I blame this on Crossfire and new, unstable drivers.

So in conclusion, Crossfire is very iffy and probably disappointing, but one card should perform excellent, as I have found in my testing (one card performs with fewer stutters and nearly identical framerate as two in Crossfire)

will this video card work with a 650 watt power supply?

It depends on what else you have in your system. I have a 850w PSU to make sure I have enough power going to places, but mainly because I had just come from an AMD build. I have an intel chip, which is low wattage, in the computer with the 390x in it. If you have an AMD chip the wattage needed would be more. When thinking what type of PSU I needed for my new system I searched for power-supply-calculator in google, the one from outervision (I can't post links). I added 100 watts to the recommended PSU.

Question 3

So, looking around i'm really confused about the amount of power this thing will take. Looking at this product it says they recommend a 750W PSU at the MINIMUM and recommend an 850W. Someone on here in the questions also mentions that this specific card takes 400W on it's own, and someone else mentions that just the R9 390x chip itself takes 295W. Th reason why i'm so confused it looking at other cards, they all say that they only take 200-300w (or a 600W PSU). Does this card really take 100-200 more Watts than other cards, or is someone really, really wrong here?! Thanks.

I just built my first pc not too long ago, and like you, I wasn't sure on the amount of power this thing uses. I've been using this card for a month now with no issues, even when I played Bf4 on 4k. I was originally only gonna get a 390, but a great deal came up for this card, so I got it. Because I was only gonna get the 390, I only bought a 750w power supply. I have a i5-4690k, standard motherboard, 16gb of ddr3 ram, a ssd, and a 7200rpm hdd with no optical drive. And this card has had no issues with being starved of wattage, even with the small power supply. Long story short, I don't know how much power this card uses, but I know it works with my system. You should be able to make a rough estimate using this information. Anyways,  I hope this has helped you out, and good luck.

How noisy/loud is this card?

here and there is like frequency noise, thats how it sounds to me. but other then that, the fans ran louder with msi afterburner. but now i just let the card run the fans itself and dont get much louder then my case fans do. it runs about 70-78 c depending on how hot the air is in my room. but that is with 3 screens going. when it was one it would get about 50-55c. im not sure now i dont ever play on one screen and that was when i was using afterburner. it stayed at around 70-74 with afterbruner with three screens. so fans ran way louder almost half the speed then now and less then 10 degree c cooler. the cards can get up to 92 c is the hottest, i believe. could be 90c. but other thent hat i have only had 2 gaming pcs and one had no fan the other a small one i had to ghetto rig a case fan to, since the stock one went out. so i never had a fan type gpu to compare. the first one i had the fan was loud and noisy, but it was the pc cooler and not gpu. but i hope this helps and sorry for the long response. i like to go in dept to help as much as i can.

System pecs, I5 6500 overclocked to 4.5 watercooled, 1tb harddrive, 1 240 ssd, 3 fans, and power supply 650watt. Will the 650 watt power supply be enough for this card? (CORSAIR CS-M Series CS650M 650W 80 PLUS)?

Could it(?) yes it will... just. After building systems for 20+ years something I've found with power supplies is that you really want to figure a half load on the supply as a maximum load your going to put on it. Can it handle more, of course, but the life of the supply will suffer. Stress a power supply and the capacitors won't live long. 650wt and figure 300-325wt max draw, if you want it to last more than a year or two.

Will I have a bottleneck issue with my FX-6350?

i could be wrong but i think it might not be strong enough. i had one and took it back and was going to get a 8350 but got a 8370 since it was 30 more instead of the usual 50. but i havent got the card yet still debating on that or 970. but i think it would hold it back for sure. im new at this but from all the research ive done, that a 100 dollar cpu and a 430 dollar gpu wont be to great.

How big of a power supply would you need to run two of these cards in crossfire mode?

Would the XFX ProSeries P1-1250-BEFX 1250W ATX12V V2.2 & ESP12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply work ok?

Yes, the XFX ProSeries 1250 would work great, plus give you plenty of headroom for other components and overclocking. If you ever have any doubt, just Google: PSU calculator, and it'll give you options to calculate your requirements.

Question 8

I see this product can display 6  monitors, but I only see 4 ports? How do I hook up 6 monitors? Do I need any additional cables or adapters or does it come with what is needed to accomplish a 6 monitor setup?  I need all 6 monitors to be able to display independently from one another. Want to be able to extend desktop to all 6 monitors so that I could drag a browser window from one monitor to any of the other monitors.

With Eyefinity, this card does support 6 displays.  You would need to purchase an additional adapter called an MST hub in order to expand the DisplayPort interface to multiple devices.

Will this card work okay in a PCI Express 2.1 x16 slot?

Yes, it will work perfectly fine, although the performance of the card will be slightly lesser than if you were to use a mobo with a PCI-E 3.0 16x lane.

so i see all these reviews about this vs the 970 and it only has like 50 fps while i see my friends getting 80 at ultra so will this play most games including dx12?

The 390x is closer to a 980 in most benchmarks especially at resolutions above 1920x1080.  There may be a few NVIDIA optimized games that will run better on the 970 but for the most part, this is a faster card.  The Asynchronous Shaders give AMD cards such as this a significant performance boost over NVIDIA cards of the same generation in DX12 games.
