Pros: Best Priced card on the market.. It beats the GTX 260 and is just below the GTX 280.. So that makes the HD 4870 1GB the second best card and the best card for the price.. One thing I notice about this card is unlike the GTX260, AA does not hurt the FPS at all.. you can run 8X AA and you will get the same FPS as running 4x AA.. Not much people need to run more then 4x AA due to the 1920x1200 24" monitors but for the people who dont have a good Monitor then you can run as much AA as you like..

Cons: There is not one bad thing about this card..

Overall Review: I have always been an ATI fan.. I have used there cards from the start. I stopped when they messed up witht he 2900's The driver probs they had where just to messed up.. But not anymore I am even seeing the Nvidia Fanboys buying these cards due to the fact they are just blowing the GTX 260's out of the water.. One other thing about this card.. Just so the noobs get an idea.. It will run COD4 all maxxed settings (1920X1200) and 8X aa with maxed AF perfect.. You will never drop below 60 FPS and that is in a hardcore firefight.. That will just give you an idea of how good this card is.. ATI is back on top.. And With the price when there next big thing comes out you dont need to worry about money for an upgrade since you are only paying $150 for a card that would cost more like $500.. I must also say Left 4 Dead 2 is coming out and you are going to want a card like this when it does.. ohh dont forget BF3.. and this card will run it perfect...

Pros: Flashed for Mac EFI32 support no problem. Runs like a champ in my early 06 Mac Pro

Cons: Runs hot regardless of which firmware I run, so hot that you can't touch it. Mine ran 69C at idle even after replacing paste. Perhaps my heatsink is a bit warped. Only running the fan speeds up with a fan util brings temps down to a normal range.

Overall Review: For Mac users, a way cheaper alternative than an 'official' HD4870.

Pros: pros.... where to start, i guess i'll start with the price. for 150$ you wont find an equivelent video card on the market. anywhere. this 1gb XFX version can rivals some GTX 275's out there. it has 1gb or VRAM so resolution is NOt an issue, neither is AA or AF. im playing CODWAW at 1280x1024 (i know..) maxxed out, 4x aa 16x af, 60FPS. without AA the framerate locks at 91fps solid.it cuts through all of my game like nothing, COD4, TF2, L4D, crysis (on high about 40FPS), oblivon, dead space, everything. colpletely tapped out, full tilt! amazing card DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE! i have yet to OC.

Cons: well, i expected it to be big so thats not a con, but it does get hot. i have hit about 65c full load, and i have a antec 900 with 4 120mm fans and a 250mm fan moving air through my system.

Pros: Very stable, played all games I ran with it, not noisy when idle. If the fan is left to b e autocontrolled, it can run a little noisy when gaming, but with the sound coming from my speakers it's not a problem. Great colling, the hot air is drown out of the case.

Pros: WOW...first ATI card since my 9700 Pro back in the day. Back then I was an ATI loyalist and abandoned them because of bugging drivers and software. When Crysis first came out I got frustrated for I had 2 8800GTs in sli and it was constantly buggy...sold one of the 8800GTs and removed Crysis. Began upgrading my system and looking for the right card without spending a fortune...wow I found it. Downloaded drivers and software from AMD/ATI's website, installed crysis and set everything to very high, 4 AA....Amazing....the detail....and playable....not blazing fast..between 25-30 fps but to see Crysis in that level of detail has been a joy. An I haven't unlocked it overclocking potential...that is on stock paired with a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P, 4GB of G.Skill DDR3, and an AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE overclocked at 3.2ghz with the 4th core unlocked. Everything purchased from Newegg.

Cons: None....now thinking hmmm, maybe I should have purchased a crossfire board. Wish XFX had a step up program like eVGA.

Overall Review: Purchased around 2pm on July 2 and UPS delivered the card at 3pm July 3rd. Newegg is the best! XFX made me a believer about 2 years ago when an older AGP nvidia 6800 [vanilla version...not ultra] died and XFX replaced it with a 7600GT PCIe that I used in a new build for my son. Very good customer service.

Pros: I've got to say, I've never been more impressed with a GPU purchase since I've began building computers(~1999). Without meandering and digressing, this is without a doubt the greatest performance out there for the money. Handles great under pressure. Have had no need to OC this yet. And the performance isn't even the best part about this card, but the cooling block. It's so sexy. It's got this wicked samurai looking m'fer ready to wreak some carnage on anything that you throw at him. Here are some real world numbers for ya: Crysis 1650x1080 4xAA, 16xAF All Settings 'high': min: 35fps avg: 55fps peak: 85fps. All settings 'very high': min: 18fps avg: 30fps peak: 57fps Age of Conan: All settings/sliders completely maxed. DX9: min: 35fps avg: 65fps peak: 80fps DX10(w/ skylighting): min: 15fps avg: 25fps peak: 40fps Disabling skylighting in this game makes the fps skyrocket to DX9-like performance. Cons: this 4870 that I've tossed at it (fear 2, prototype, mass effect, bioshock, etc). As far as cons are concerned, I've not experienced any besides heat. Heat's not even an issue, but some are uncomfortable pushing 70c under stress. Catalyst is not as good as nVidia's control panel IMO[catalyst feels clunky, nVidia's is alot more 'smooth' and 'refined.']

Pros: Cheap! DDR5 1GB Very good performance Included ATI utility is very good for setup, customization, and hardware monitoring.

Cons: Runs very hot! 63C idle is normal, and is near the lower end of the scale in their monitoring utility. I suppose its supposed to be this warm.

Overall Review: Awesome video card. My only con is the heat produced, but it is very effectively channeled out of the back of the card and the computer case. Runs everything I throw at it in super high settings and max resolution. Far Cry 2, Wheelman (included, pretty decent game), Street Fighter 4, Fallout 3 all look amazing. I've never tried Crysis. I've heard its more of a benchmark than a game. I'm not really interested. Personally, I don't see any need for anything more than what this card can handle. And, its OCable, which I have no need to touch. The new prices on these are unbelievable. A year ago these things cost over twice what they do now. Snatch this up, you won't be disappointed.

Pros: Runs games at playable levels in relatively high detail at 1920x1080.

Cons: Runs hot. The circuitboard itself gets noticeably hot and it constantly exhausts a large amount of air. Requires two 6-pin PCIE power connectors. Long. I had to remove my hard drive cage on my PC-60 so the power cables wouldn't have to be bent to fit. Noisy. The hard plastic duct hums with a wavering pitch. It's not loud in decibel sense, but its unique sound makes it stand out.

Overall Review: The guide says not to use adapters that turn two 4-pin molex power connectors into a 6-pin PCI connector, yet the package contains two of these adapters. What a waste. The XFX website had a link for Catalyst 9.8 for WinXP32, but it was broken. Downloaded the lastest drivers from the official site instead. Could be quieter. I saw a MSI version of the 4870 with the huge fan (no plastic duct) and I was impressed. It doesn't exhaust air out, but my case has very good air flow. I will remember to look for the fan design next.
