Product Description
XIC PE580 is a high performance, low dielectric loss factor interface conversion card. It connects NVMe SSD or PCIe connectors via MCIO 74pin connector, supports up to 2 PCIe devices or NVMe SSDs. The bandwidth of the card is the bandwidth that the PCIe slot of the motherboard can support.
The Motherboard with CPU and BIOS needs to support bifurcation to ensure PCIe x8 link width to bifurcate two x4 link width for NVMe SSD, Otherwise this card can only support PCIe link width of one device.
Features
Support up to 2 PCIe devices or NVMe SSDs
Compatible with PCIe Gen5, Gen4&Gen3&Gen2&Gen1
Directly connected to U. 2 NVMe SSD by MCIO to 2xSFF-8639 cable
Support bifurcated in two x4 data link width configuration (CPU and BIOS both support)
Build in MCIO 8i connector, pin-out defined by SFF-9402
Operating system support
The adapter does not require a driver for operation or communication to attached NVMe drives. The drives are presented natively to the host and use the native NVMe drivers.

The Shinreal XIC PE580 is a PCIe 5.0 x8 host adapter with an MCIO 8i interface for connecting up to two PCIe 4.0 U.2 NVMe SSDs, suited to storage-focused PC or workstation builders whose motherboard and BIOS support PCIe bifurcation.
Recommended For
- Homelab or NAS builders adding up to two U.2 NVMe drives through a free PCIe slot, especially when their motherboard and BIOS support the required bifurcation.
- Workstation or server owners with compatible U.2 drives and an available PCIe 5.0 x8 slot who want to connect them using an MCIO 8i interface.
- Builders repurposing enterprise U.2 NVMe drives for high-speed local storage, such as a homelab storage pool or workstation data drive, who can accommodate an internal adapter and its cabling.
- Experienced PC or server builders who already work with MCIO cabling and can check motherboard and BIOS bifurcation settings before installation.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- A homelab or server builder wants to add two U.2 NVMe drives without using two motherboard PCIe slots. With a compatible MCIO-to-dual-U.2 cable and x4/x4 bifurcation enabled, the drives can appear to the operating system as separate storage devices.
- A workstation or home server owner wants to reuse compatible U.2 NVMe drives for local storage. The card provides a way to connect those drives through an available PCIe slot, provided the system supports bifurcation and the cable and drive connections match.
- A user building a server with limited internal drive connections wants to keep NVMe storage inside the system rather than add a separate storage enclosure. The adapter can connect up to two compatible U.2 drives, but the motherboard’s BIOS settings and the correct MCIO cable are important to getting both drives recognized.
- Before buying, a builder checks whether an open PCIe slot can serve two U.2 drives. If the CPU and motherboard BIOS support x4/x4 bifurcation, both drives may be usable; without that support, the setup may expose only one device or fail to detect the drives as intended.
