XIGMATEK ACK-I7361 CPU Cooler

Pros: Clearly the best way to mount a Xigmatek or OCZ CPU cooler.

Cons: It probably requires removal of the motherboard.

Overall Review: Installation Tip: Position the cooler over the over the mounting plate and thread two of the screws (without springs) into opposite corners to fix the CPU cooler's location. Then, thread the remaining 2 screws (springs attached) about 1-2 turns into the other corners. Remove the first two, add springs, and reinsert as the second two. Tighten all four according to directions.

Pros: i found out that it was not the part that was the problem it was a a peice of metal laying on my motherboard and that was causing it not to fit some now my outveiw of this product has change, now i think this is the most coolest thing you can get to mount your heatsink to so i would deffenetly recomend this part to anybody.

Cons: good product just don't be dum like i did!!

Overall Review: perfect for intel heat and just only 10.00$!!!and shipping that will make it about 14.00$ but still an awsome deal!!

Pros: A brace for the back of the motherboard to make the installation of the HDT-S1283 more secure. Used electrical tape to hold it to the back of the motherboard while installing the cpu cooler. Installing two screws without the springs first; followed by two screws with the springs; removing the the 2 screws without the springs and reinstalling with springs.

Cons: None really

Overall Review: This brace should be included with every new HDT-S1283. I did install one HDT-S1283 cooler without this brace and I have had no problems even after moving the computer from the basement to and upstairs room and back again.

Pros: Its very sturdy and fits perfect with the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 heatsink and fan!

Cons: The sticky pad that comes with the crossbow doesn't stick very well to the MB so i had to use some tape to hold it on untill i could put the screws in.

Overall Review: The Xigmatek should honestly come with this component because those push pins are absolute garbage and not stable enought. IMO.

Pros: 10 dollars to use old HDT-S1283 heatsink on new computer

Cons: not free, but xigmatek already has very inexpensive stuff so this is kind of nitpicking even if some other companies will send you their adapter kits for free.

Pros: Works just as advertised. Nice tight fit. Works with the new Core i7 chips.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I don't know what kind of brute was talking about stripping screws. This just worked exactly as described and worked well. I was very happy to be able to use the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 Cooler with my new Core i7 as it is a proven design and less expensive than the other Core i7 coolers.

Pros: Allowed me to re-utilize my slightly used Xigmatek hdt-1283 (which was on my quad core 2) and is now snugly on my Core I7.

Cons: Slightly confusing documentation but what do you expect for a support bracket.

Pros: Have had high ratings from the press and has done well with OC'ing my Q6600 to 3.4GHz. Would go higher but ambient temperature affects many attempts at modding a rig. The fan goes up to some 1500 rpm, has PWM control and is quiet enough in my case of some 7 fans..yes the case, not this particular fan, makes a hell of a racket, but in the desert that is a concession you learn to make with high ambient heat. When I find an fairly inexpensive water cooler will make the changeover.

Cons: The (insert epithet here) pin connector used to hold a heat sink of this size on a board is a joke. Xigmatek offers a kit to put a brace on the back of the board and I highly recommend that. The pins were forever popping leaving one or another core exposed. Tall, really, really tall and big. I had to mod the side fan on the Antec 900 to accomodate the cooler. However you'll get no further clearance problems from the Gigabyte-EP45-UD3R board. The layout is made for these towers and would expect a V10 to work nicely. Minus one egg that may be given back when the brace is installed.

Overall Review: Xigmatech has a great brace kit called the Crossbow which supports LGA775 or LGA1366. The part number is ACK-17381. This kit should be a MANDATORY part of the Red Scorpion..and all other similarly designed coolers. The down side, the mother board must be removed.. so get a new mother board..freak accident with the old one... so saved on that procedure... set up the brace and away you go. Read the instructions carefully. Part of the instructions are for the LGA775 and part for the LGA 1366. How you place the rubber on the plate is very different. Did I mention how pleased I am with Neweggs? Continuing great service??? Well I am pleased! Have made some five rigs from Newegg parts and never an RMA ...knock on wood...
