it says FM2 compatible, but at the bottom of the overview it doesnt say FM2 compatible... has anyone installed in an FM2 motherboard yet?

AMD has used the same mounting mechanism for their sockets for quite some time.  FM2/AM2/AM3 all use the same mounting.

will this work on am3+ sockets as well?

Yes, it works on AM3+. It clamps down quite well, too. It uses nuts and bolts with a big back plate in place of the stock AMD hook and lever gizmo.

would this fan fit in a gaming mid ATX tower?

the cooler is 120(W) x 120(H) x 25(D) mm, the mb is what maybe 2mm thick? does the mb mounting position allow for the fan to fit?
prodigy has some cases on newegg that allow the mb to mount facing horizontal rather than vertical allowing for much more space, and i have mine with a core i3 in a mini itx prodigy case, near the size of what you would expect a mid atx to be, i believe they (prodigy) now has a uatx case as well, watch your uatx, mini itx size differences, mb and case, i learned the expensive way

If I am thinking of this correctly, when the motherboard is positioned vertically this heatsink will extend horizontally.  Would this kind of setup put a substantial amount of stress on the motherboard that could potentially cause problems?

almost every regular tower computer has a vertical motherboard.  Even with two fans you'll be fine.  Larger fans, or fans with heavier components, can be supplemented with strap systems.

I bought this to cool a amd athlon 750k do you think ill be able to get to 4.4ghz like people have been doing with the hyper 212 evo?

These are light-weight coolers that work well. I use them on Gigabyte motherboards and they fit well too. The amount of overclock will always depend on the chip mostly and also the options on the motherboard. They compare well with the 212.

Question 6

I bought this to install with an i5-4670K. I'm not sure about the installation. The backplate has a foam pad, am I supposed to remove that or leave it in place?

Also, some intrusctions I found said to remvoe and cpu backplate currently on the board. That doesn't mean what I see on the udnerside of my just purchased MSI Z87-G45 does it? THere's a backpate there for the cpu mount, but if I remove that then the CPU socket mount would come off wouldn't it?

sorry it took so long to get a response but this cooler comes with its own mounting bracket for your board. it is a simple install and requires you to remove the current bracket to instal its bracket
