it is a 4 pin..all i have fooled with is 4 pin for the cpu only..good quiet fan..keeps cpu 36 degrees at idle..using old system 775 board..have Q9650 proccessor overclocked slightly to 3.2 ghz..

Air is pulled in through the front of the fan blades and then pushes out the back of the orange heatsink.

Q: Will this work for the GA-8I915G-MF/GA-8I915GM Motherboards?

Although I can't say for sure, the fan does support socket 775 boards for the cpus listed at the Zalman website. The fan mount uses the standard motherboard mounting holes for a socket 775 cpu fan. Recommend confirming space dimensions in the computer case since the fan is larger than a standard cpu fan (could be an issue in a "slim" case.

Q: Just got this, brand new. Cools great, and the blades are quiet but it is emitting this awful whine that is worse at lower RPMs. Do I need to replace this?

I've had this cooler for over two years and it is very quiet - no whine. If there are no bent fins and not wires touching the blade - I'd replace it.

Q: Does it work with the intel 1150 socket? I read in the reviews that it does not work with the 1150 socket very well. I do have access to the back of my motherboard so that should not be a problem

Hi, I have it on two 1150's Haswell i5/K. I run one with constant temp display I have never seen it go past 40 C usually runs around 30 C . Intel says design max is 100 C. I run slightly overclocked. I use two monitors, internal Intel GPU and play online video as my most demanding application. I am thinking about running without a fan. You may need to contact Zalmam for a different bracket. One came with two brackets. The other came with only the wrong one.

I would say no. You need to order a cooler that will fit your socket type. If your going to use an AMD motherboard your cooler should match the processor socket. In this case the AM3+ processor requires a heat sink that will match the processor type (an AM3+). Now other similar Zalman coolers (9500A, 9700 and 9900) say they will fit. I cannot say I have tried it on an AMD socket AM3+ but the most likely difference is in the mounting brackets, back plate, and clips. I had a problem putting it on an Intel socket 1150. I called Zalman and got a modified bracket that fit my 1150 for free. I own a AM2 and its back plate and bracket has rectangular spaced board mounting screws while Intels are all evenly (squarely) spaced holes. In doubt call Zalman US they are friendly and helpful. Do not drill holes in your MB.

not sure , don't have a lga 1150, best bet is to check the size of each and see if they are the same.

the one with the clear fan can have blue or red LED.

Compatibility: Intel LGA 775 / 1155* / -->1156*<-- / 1150

The note only pertains to those people who purchased the cooler long ago. It will work just fine.
