Question 1

Will this work in a dell XPS 8900 with i7-6700 3.40ghz and how well will it keep it cool if it does ?

Accepted Answer

It should work, but I wouldn't recommend it. Your CPU's TDP is 65W and this is designed for CPUs under 120W so it should cool adequately. However, this is designed more for low powered CPUs in a low profile server and you might get better performance from a larger cooler that moves air more efficiently way from the CPU.

Question 2

will this work on AM4 - Ryzen?

Accepted Answer

I'm no expert on the new AM4-Ryzen but the model CU cooler CNPS2X is small and may not be much better than the stock cooler --- I would try the stock AMD cooler unless you plan on over clocking then you may want something bigger. Sorry Zalman!

Question 3

Can I use this fan on a Dell Inspiron 580 ? Can I use the stock factory backing plate??

Mike

Accepted Answer

Yes, think it will support the Dell Inspiron 580 with LGA1156 chipset.
Here is the compatibility supported Socket: Intel: LGA 1155 / 1156 / 1150 / 775 Socket
AMD: FM1 / FM2 / AM3+(120W or lower) / AM3(120W or lower) / AM2+ / AM2 Socket
It is very quiet and efficient heat dissipation, but you must need an exhaust Fan either on top or in the rear of the PC to draw heat from your case.
I am not sure about the Stock Factory backing Plate. This heat sink comes with several compatible backing plates.
Hope this help.

Good Luck,

Hung
