ZALMAN CNPS8700 2 Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: Fantastic cooler. On lowest speed 1140RPM) my 6600 Quad runs at 46C with all four cores at 90% load during NLE transcoding. At high speed/high load it's 38C. 26C at idle and low speed.

Cons: The bracket behind the board is a pain to line up but it is set and forget.

Overall Review: Fits on the Abit P35 Pro MB.

Pros: Exceptional cooling and a very good looking design. Low hight allows it to fit nicely into the xqpac2 and similar small form factor cases.

Cons: The width of the heatsink may pose problems installing on some motherboards.

Overall Review: Unfortunately will not fit on a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H motherboard due to the hight of several capacitors near the CPU. Proximity of the memory slots may also pose a problem if using memory sticks with tall heat spreaders.

Pros: Keeps my AMD Phenom nice and cool, fan spins slow and quiet while the CPU is idle even with my aggressive 40C temperature target, easy to install on Socket AM2 and AM2+ motherboards, easily fit my MSI K9A2 CF motherboard

Cons: Fan is louder than I'd like at full speed, as if it needs to be balanced a bit better or something. Zalman does great metalwork but their fans are only so-so.

Overall Review: My Phenom is currently idling at 32C with the fan spinning at a quiet 1120 RPM. Nice.

Pros: Dissipates heat like a champ. Looks friggin awesome. Fits perfectly in my Fragbox and helps cool the memory and chipsets to boot. Silent! You hear me? No you don't, because its silent!

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Great for a low profile HTPC, or a microATX LAN gaming box. Makes no noise if you let your Mobo manage the RPMs and you have decent ventilation.

Pros: Runs Very Silent @2600RPM and cooooools everything even my OC'ed Phenom II 720BE @ 3.6Ghz 1.4v all below 50C on a airtight Lian Li V600 that hasnt much room

Cons: kind of dificult to install but worth it 100%

Overall Review: had a Thermaltake Venus 12 and by far this baby looks better and cools better

Pros: With the setting at its lowest the fan is very quiet. And with Arctic Ceramic thermal grease my Intel Core 2 Quad is sitting at 30-45 degrees celsius, averaging in the 30's. It's also a pretty fan.

Cons: MOST DIFFICULT THING I INSTALLED IN MY SYSTEM! They've really skimped on the mounting system. I had to uninstall my motherboard for the back panel thing. This should have been in BIG letters at the beginning of the instructions, which are by the way not very good. Tiny pictures and difficult to understand directions. The mounting thing is basically a this strip of metal that just sort of sits through the middle of the fans heat pipes. It's very easy to tip it and the little attachment mounting lever to slip sideways or upside down. So I found myself having to go through at least 15 attempts to finally get it right, smearing thermal paste everywhere, glad I got non-conductive. Finally I was able to jam the edges of the thin poorly constucted and conceived metal strip over the edges of the mounting base. It was flexing very much and hurt my fingers, the lever wants to slip upside down so that's a pain too. Took me 30 minutes at least.

Overall Review: It's a great fan, I'd recommend it, but the install is such a pain.

Pros: no height issues whatsoever with the 76mm clearence for the case. keeps my phenom II idle at 36c and have seen 50c only once under a full load.

Pros: I just built a new computer and got the Core 2 Duo 3.0 CPU, remembering my last CPU (which was a 3.4 Pentium 4) that ran hot I decided to disguard the stock heatsink and buy a good one. Being skeptical about the new upright style I stuck with Zalman's classic style, just newer model. Boy does this thing keep it cool. After running CoD:WaW for a few hours my CPU was only at 32C. I don't think i've ever seen it approach 40C.

Cons: Probably lots of people say this, but it is bigger than I thought, and double checking measurements before purchase is a good idea. Full Tower cases are probably a good idea. Not really a con, but I wish the RPM would go up higher for more cooling, 2800RPM like the CNPS9700. Because unlike some of you namby pamby babies I don't mind a little noise to reassure my CPU is staying in Maine for the summer, not Nevada.

Overall Review: I would definatly recommend it to anyone and I will buy one again for another computer I might be putting together with a Core 2 Quad 3.0.
