ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

Pros: This is probably the best cooler that I have bought yet. It may be huge but it clearly does its job. Running an Ivy Bridge i7 3770K OC @ 4.3 Ghz. Idle temps are around 24-26 and 37-40 under heavy load. Used Artic Silver 5 with this bad boy.

Cons: Fins are pretty sharp. I cut myself several times during installation. Definitely wear gloves

Overall Review: On top of everything it is a beautifully designed heat-sink and the blue led complements the rest of the blue led theme going on in my case. Pros: Great cooling with Overclocking Quiet Easy Install (AMD)

Cons: None Not really a con because most coolers designed like this have the same situation... requires ocassional removel to clean all the way. Store aircans just don't seem to 100% get dust out.

Overall Review: I have been using this for well over a year. With a high overclocks it has kept my CPU cool. It does such an awesome cooling job, that soon I am ordering another one for another desktop. The price has gone down since I bought mine.. Now at $40.00 it is an awesome value. At first I used a PhenomII X3, then a PhenomII X6 and my temps are avg. 32. Never have reached 60's. Buy one.. you'll be happy. It's good looking too.

Pros: First thing before you buy, check the clearance in your case! For socket 775 you will need 62mm between the pwr supply and the center of the CPU; 48mm between ODD and center of CPU. You also need 150mm from the main board to the case cover. I’ve got the Core 2 Duo chip 2.13 ghz with AUSU P5B-E mainboard. Idle temp went from 52 to 38. ASUS’ non-delay overclocking is on. Heavy tasking resulted in a drop from 58 degrees to 41.

Cons: Fan Mate2 is nice, but I’d rather have the mainboard control the fan speed (neat ASUS feature … Q-fan). Had to ask tech support if that is OK since they didn’t mention it in the installation instructions.

Pros: It works. I've got my 2.13ghz Core 2 Duo clocked up past 3.2ghz and stays nice and cool with this. It looks good too. The combination of the LED fan and the beautiful copper look great.

Cons: Big and heavy. The spring clip that secures it has quite a lot of tension which makes installing it a bit difficult.

Overall Review: Fits great on my P5W DH Deluxe board in a Thermaltake Swing case. I've read many cooler reviews and the 9700 is always near the top of the list. When you add in the good looks and Zalman quality I think this one is a winner. It's pretty quiet. Silent at all but the highest fan speeds, and even then it is still barely noticable. It comes with a speed controller which I didn't use. I prefer to use the Speedfan utility.

Pros: After reading many reviews, doing the research and now actually using this thing it gets a thumbs up from me! This thing looks great and the lighting is just right. Temp data (22C ambient): Before; 41C idle/54C under load (BF2, 2142, etc.): After; 38C idle/47C load. The 7C decrease (under load) is a nice drop. (Note; temps are while using an FX57, OCd to 2968 and the fan on high). The db level of the fan isn’t bad, on low you can barely hear it and on high it isn’t much louder, actually my case fans over power this thing. Also, read the reviews on the H2O systems out there (leaking, pump failures, etc.), who needs the headaches anyway? Look no further and get this beast, you will like it. Cons: The install directions are pretty good but this is one of those items that you need to be a little innovative while installing (AMD install). I used a large screwdriver to push down on the main piece of the clip and a small to guide the small clip into place, this method worked for me (be careful that you don’t slip and damage the m/b). Not sure about the included Thermal Grease, it’s more on the liquid side. I didn’t feel good about this stuff and ended up using my a/s5, love this stuff. There were quite a few minor scratches on the bottom of the heatsink, you would think the manufacturers would take better care in that area.

Overall Review: Fan settings: No fan controller (Q-Fan settings); 1,250 low/2,850 high: With fan controller; 1,250 low but would only go up to 2,550 on high. This thing is big but still had a little clearance from my side case fan/first memory stick. I have to mention this, it’s killing me; for those that claim super low temps like 22C idle/27C load, get real and check your program. Even when you look at the Pros reviews/comparison testing they do not get anywhere close to these numbers, believe what you want! Pros: One of the best you can get as far as air cooling heatsinks. I've owned three of these for various builds and have had nothing but positive experiences. This keeps my e6750 @ 3.25Ghz impressively cool at the lowest fan setting. My idle temps stay with 10C of ambient room temperature (My PC is in a basement with an ambient temp of 19-20C and my CPU idles at 26-28C.) Under hours of gaming load (CoD4 and/or Bioshock) the temps never exceed 38C. This is with the included fan controller set to the lowest setting! I can knock a few degrees off of the load temps by setting the fan to a midrange setting and things are still impressively quiet. A great HSF for people who want to achieve some decent overclocking on air cooling. Mounting on 775 and AM2 sockets is secure, with the weight of the unit being supported by front and backing plates.

Cons: Make sure it will fit. It is large. It's also heavy, so take care if you have a PC that will be moved around alot. Even with the secure mounting, this thing will put strain on the motherboard. Installation on 775 can be a little tricky, but nothing that caused me any headaches. Also, things get loud at the maximum fan setting... but if whatever you are doing requires the fan to stay at the maximum, you probably need to go beyond air cooling anyways.

Overall Review: The new Zalman thermal compound appears to work very well. I used it with my e6750 build when I realized I was all out of Artic Silver 5. I am very impressed with the performance. I'm doubting that Artic Silver would offer much of an improvement with this build.... maybe if I really pushed the overclocking further... but I don't have any reason to do that for the forseeable future.

Pros: 1st time system builder. Using Zalman 9700 in Antec 900 case with Intel E8400 CPU on Asus Maximus Formula mobo. 9700 not as large physically as some reviews suggested. Install easier than expected. Very effective cooler for this setup - max CPU temp UNDER LOAD of 37 celsius on hotter Core 0 and 32 celsius on Core 1 (no overclocking yet). Picked 9700LED with blue LED to match blue LEDs in Antec 900 case - neat effect!

Cons: 1) Zalman install instruction pamphlet in package is good, but print is smallest font I have ever seen. Pull out your electron microscope to read, or download manual from Zalman website for a readable version prior to install. 2) Almost forgot how dark red human blood really is. SERIOUSLY - you WILL have scars on BOTH HANDS to admire from install into almost any motherboard. Just incredible how much damage those thin copper fins can do to human flesh with slightest contact.

Overall Review: 1) NOTE - 9700LED has a 3 pin connection for the motherboard. I connected it to the ChassisFan3 on Maximus Formula. And -- DISABLE CPU fan detection in BIOS to avoid needing to "F1" around the error message since the 9700LED does not connect to the 4 pin CPUFan. 2) Currently have the fanmate controller routed out of rear of case and stored (temporarily) in tray on top. Fanmate switch turned full clockwise for maximum RPM capability, but ASUS Probe and SpeedFan indicate it's just turning 1050 RPM. 3) Looks and works great in Antec900 with Maximus Formula mobo, Intel E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz Core Duo, 4GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz RAM, EVGA 8800GTS 512MB overclocked 12%, WD RaptorX 150GB boot drive, WD SATA 500GB storage drive, twin ASUS 2014L1T SATA optical drives, all powered by PC Power&Cooling 750Quad Silencer and running WindowsXP SP2 O/S.
