Will this work with Charter Cable internet?

It isn't listed on their list.  While it would probably work, I wouldn't recommend getting something off their list.  If anything -- *anything* - ever goes wrong, they will simply immediately blame the fact that you have an unapproved Modem and call it a day.

can this replace my comcast arris gateway TG862G?  Is it compatible with wifi and do i need to buy a separate router or is this all i need?

You could use this modem to replace the TG862G but you would need a separate wifi router. I would personally avoid Zoom and use Motorola/Arris.
