Any problems using this with dual monitors out of the box?  The last card I had didn't work as advertised....

I have 4 of these cards in 4 seperate computers. The configuration is 2 HDMI and 2 DVI, all are working flawlessly. You will need to configure the card using the software provided by Zotac. Windows 7/8 has no idea what to do with more than 2 monitors	v's. Card will work fine if you use the Zotac provided software.

Question 2

I have a motherboard that has a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot.  Will this work?

I have this in a HP Z600. I think what you are asking is will a 3.0 work in a 2.0, and I think it will. The issue is more whether you have the right slot.

Slots one, three, five, and six use open-ended PCIe connectors, so a PCIe x16 card can be inserted. This allows the workstation to support more PCIe x16 expansion cards. A x16 card typically trains and runs at the maximum lane width available by the expansion slot. The card runs at the reduced lane width, with a corresponding performance decrease.

A x16 graphics card runs at the bandwidth of the slot it is plugged into. The slot bandwidth can be x1, x4, x8, or x16. A PCIe card can be plugged into a slot with a lesser speed. It runs at that speed with a commensurate performance decrease. (Older graphics cards may not comply with this.)

will this only work on a pci-E 3.0? Or is it backward compatible on a PCI-e 2.0? Thanks

I'm using this video card with a PCI-e v2.0 motherboard and it works just fine. Most PCI-e devices are backwards compatible so the only thing you really have to worry about is the size of the slot. Now obviously if you're buying the latest dual GPU video card I would recommend buying a motherboard that is running a compliant slot because the card might not perform to it's fullest potential. But in this case, this is a very simple video card and it's not designed for rendering bleeding edge graphics. I bought this card specifically to drive 4 separate monitors so that my primary graphics card can drive my main display exclusively. I have had zero heat issues so far.

how many 1600p monitors will this support at one time?

Will both DVI ports support dual link bandwidth?  I have two monitors running at 2560x1600 resolution.

I am currently running duel screen monitors 1920x180 each. This card handles it just fine for general purpose. I would not recommend it for running two monitors on games like battlefield though.

will this work with a  EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR LGA 1366

motherboard? . currently 560ti want a 2048

You must use the Zotac provided software to configure the card for more than 2 monitors. Windows 7/8 has no idea how to deal with more than 2 monitors. Using the Zotac provided software is fairly easy and will accomplish up to 4 monitors.
