I use a dual monitor set up. Will this video card allow me to use both monitors without an external video card?

Ben, absolutely. I am running this card in a triple monitor configuration. Supposedly, you can use all 4 video ports at the same time, but I haven't tried it. I have World of Tanks and World of Airplanes off this card in a triple, 19" monitor configuration, running at 3840x1024. In the specific case of this card, you have 2 DVI ports and 2 HDMI ports. BUT! HDMI uses the same signal as DVI (HDMI just also includes sound and ethernet) so you can get HDMI to DVI cables for use on any monitor that only has DVI and VGA. I run the triple monitors on 2 HDMI ports and 1 DVI port, using the HDMI to DVI cables.

Will the HDMI ports on this card also carry the digital audio signal from my motherboard's 7.1 surround system?

yes it will carry to all 4 ports, if you have a DVI to HDMI converter, it will do carry the DVI as well. you have to specify in your sound playback devices. as you know the TVs only have 2 speakers... so it will be easer to go from your computer to your surround system

These are internally installed cards that plug directly into the motherboard of your PC. In this case, the format that the card uses is listed in the description: PCI Express 3.0. This is a fairly ubiquitous standard - almost every standard PC made in recent years has these type of slots. You will need to refer to the owner's manual for your PC or the tech specs listed on the manufacturer's website to make sure.

This card has a pretty slim profile, so it will fit in most cases, but you should still check the physical dimensions to ensure it will fit into your PC's case.
