One, this is a modem and NOT a router. If you require more than one ethernet port I'd highly recommend getting a router to supplement this purchase. Also please look at the product images or 360 view, which clearly show the back panel and layout. All the best on your next purchase!

Yes, I have Comcast.
I didn't need to call Comcast to install it.  Open your browser and follow the instructions.  When it was almost finished Comcast said they will upgrade the modem firmware.  They said wait x minutes but there was never any indications that it was finished.  I waited about to-15 minutes, it did work OK so I guess it upgraded OK.

Do I need to buy this modem if I have Comcast or would any cable modem be compatible?  Would I also need to buy a router to have WIFI or is that included in this modem?

Yes this modem is Compatible with Comcast Network. You can buy this modem to replace the cable modem provided by Comcast to avoid rental charges. However, this modem does not have built-in WIFI. You have to buy an external router to accomplish that connection.

Yes you will be needing a wireless router with this unit. This is only a cable modem without the wireless capabilities integrated into the unit.

I have a Vizio router and use my phone line for the internet.  Is this product the correct modem, or do I need a different modem., also, my phone company is CenturyLink.  Is there a problem their also?  Thanks

This is a cable modem and will not work with CenturyLink.  Depending where you live, CenturyLink may offer DSL or Fiber internet.  If fiber is available where you live, you will most likely need to obtain a modem through them.  If only DSL is available, you can purchase a 3rd party DSL modem.

Hello,
   Comcast is now contacting customers telling us to upgrade our modem's to THEIR newest modem to benefit from the high speed service they are now offering in our area.   I am not tech savvy, so I am asking if this is a modem comparable to something that Comcast would be promoting - I guess a better way to put it would be, is this a modem that handles high speeds? Without knowing what modem Comcast is promoting, it is, as you suggest, impossible to make a comparison.  But when you restate the question to ask whether this modem can handle high speeds, the answer is yes.

I'm a Comcast subscriber.  My download speed (the rate at which Comcast sends me data) is typically between 27-29 megabits per second.  My upload speed (the rate at which Comcast accepts the data I send) is typically between 5.5 and 5.9 megabits per second.  Those speeds are considered high speeds.

My Zyxel modem works flawlessly at those speeds.  If your download and upload speeds are similar to mine, you may be reasonably sure that the Zyxel modem will work just fine.

PS:  If you haven't already checked your download/upload speeds, just ask Google how to do that and you'll be directed to a number of websites which will check your download/upload speeds.

The hardware advertises it supports IPv6 but it should be advised it s not check marked for use with IPv6 on Comcast's network Per their approved devices list.

Need modem for Time Warner cable internet. Is this unit compatible with their service?

That modem is not listed on the Time-Warner website as compatible.  This does not mean that it isn't.  The BRG35503 is very compatible with the Motorola SB6141 which is listed as tested and compatible with Time-Warner's network.  I would be surprised if the ZyXel doesn't work fine.  I would, however, advise you talk the your provider to make sure that they will ALLOW you use a modem not on the list. That sounds silly, but, you never know.
