If so, how bad is the reduced speeds?

I use two of these units to extend the range of my wireless network at opposite ends of the building. They work well and get the job done. Before installing the extenders I experienced dropped connection several times per hour. With the extenders installed I seldom experience any disruption.

Being able to use both the wired network connection and the wireless connection depends on the hardware and OS that you are using.

I have about six or eight devices connected wirelessly; laptops, printers, BD players, etc. I don't know what the limit is on number of devices.
