5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Inexpensive, fast, small, easy. It came, I opened it, I put in the enclosed CD and let it chew, it restarted my computer, I plugged it in, disabled the card that I had (story to follow), entered the password for my router/firewall and POOF! I was connected. The router is about 25 feet away with a wall in between and I'm getting speeds up to 2 MB/s. And that isn't to say it topped out, that's just what I happened to be getting.

Cons: The only thing I can think of is that the instructions for installation consist of pictures and arrows, with no verbose instructions. Be sure to have the number of your Know-It-All nephew Ralston(tm) handy just in case you're doing something similar to what I did.

Overall Review: I upgraded my computer with all-new parts, except for the wireless NIC. Should've spent that last $30 because it must have gotten ker-zapped too, because the connection to the wireless router was spotty. The connection used to be just fine but now it was like computing from a Faraday cage. My wife finally demanded that I move my computer from the living room floor, where I could get a good signal, back to the bedroom. So now I *HAVE* to do something about this lack of connection. I didn't want to open my case, so I got a USB adapter instead. I'm glad I did, too, because it upgraded me to the N standard.

5 out of 5 eggsworks like a charm

Pros: easy to install. I used this with my new build running Win7 Home (64-bit). Plugged it in, Win7 downloaded the driver, and I was instantly online. Picks up the signal nice and strong.

Cons: none

Overall Review: check the manufactures website for the latest drivers just to be sure. Win7 might not be able to find the latest drivers.

Pros: Picks up signal through 4 VERY thick walls with all 5 bars. Install was super fast and easy too. No connection drop offs. Worth the money.

Cons: I can't think of any.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS

Pros: -Small
-easy set up

Cons: -Slow...VERY Slow
-can't play online games
-can't stream media
-web pages load slow

Overall Review: I have a computer case that is close to my wall with a pretty big adapter connected to it. When I hit the computer with me knee it pushes the adapter to the wall bending it. So even though my old adapter works, it is bulky. I decided to try this micro Adapter. It was an easy setup and connected to my network with no problems. As soon as I started browsing the web I noticed a huge lag. I thought something was wrong with my internet provider. I tried to play a game online and kept getting disconnected. I did some troubleshooting and pinpointed the problem to this adapter. I decided to run a speedtest and the results would range from .76 to 3.22 Mb/s I switched to my old adapter and quickly got 15.85 Mb/s I switched back and kept gettting in the 3Mb/s area. I switched back to the old one again and immediatly back to 15 Mb/s area. That is a HUGE Difference. I cant not play any games using this adapter nor stream media. I am 34 days into my purchase I should have tested it earlier.

2 out of 5 eggsLower speeds than expected!!

Pros: It's functional. Easy driver installation in Win 7 64bit. It was on sale for $20. shipped, still a high price to performance ratio.

Cons: All you get with the installation is the drivers. No monitoring software is installed. You don't need it but it comes in handy. I purchased this to replace an Airlink 101 N150 micro wireless adapter, that I paid $10. for, hoping it would increase my download speed. It did not. In fact it decreased from 2.26Mbps to 1.28Mbps (average 10 runs using speakeasy.net's speed test, same location, same usb port, no other wireless adapters active).
The range on these micro usb wireless adapters are limited. I admit I'm trying to push it to the max, 1 floor down on the other side of the house from my wireless router, a lot of walls and floors to go through. If you have a desktop or HTPC a better choice would be this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315096
I do though get 10.62Mbps on my HP dm1 netbook at the same location. It has a Ralink RT5930 n wireless card.

It also frequently increased Win 7's boot time, hanging up just before it loaded the desktop.

Overall Review: This adapter has a Realtek RTL8192CU chip. Belkin correct me if I'm wrong. Belkin's latest drivers from their website are old, 1/31/2011, compared to those on Realtek's site. If you try to install Realtek's drivers and software it does not recognize Belkin's adapter. I also tried Realtek's RTL8188CUS drivers (same drivers as 8192CU chip) and software with the same results.

My Airlink 101 n150 uses the Realtek RTL8191SU chip. I have no problem installing its latest drivers and software from Realtek.

C'mon Belkin update your drivers. They are almost a year old.

For the price, there are better and much cheaper usb wireless adapters out there.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: I'm using it to write this review

Cons: Where to start? Needed a wireless N solution to the gaming computer in the back office 20 feet away.

Installed the unit in a rear usb port and it couldn't even see my network, almost sent it back but decided to try a front usb port and to my surprise it saw my network and connected with 5 bars. So far it gets 5 eggs, then the problems started. It will connect at 7mbps, then drop to 1mbps. Speedtest shows only .50-.75mbps of actual throughput. I have two laptops on either side of the computer and each can get 20-25mbps throughput. (linkspeed 144mbs on my N network)

Called tech support and after following a very un-knowledgeable agent through some basic router settings that had no effect, the technical hung up on me. After dealing with another tech they told me my unit was defective and sent out a replacement which had no improvement. 3 weeks after mailing back the "defective" unit they charged my credit card $61 (on a part I payed $25 for from newegg in the first place)

Overall Review: Bought this for the great reviews. Worst throughput/tech support I've ever had. 2 other laptops in the same room get ~25mbps, this little guy can't muster 1mbps.

5 out of 5 eggsNifty Little Guy

Pros: I bought one of these guys for gaming, it worked well, so I picked up 2 more. Never had a problem in my house with any of these.

Cons: Not a single one.

Overall Review: I game quite a bit, but I am no latency purist. I am sure maybe there is something better out there, but I have grown accustomed to this little guy and it works nicely. Also it doesn't have any programs that try to take over your network scanning abilities (cough cough, I am looking at you netgear)

2 out of 5 eggsGood at first, drops speeds

Pros: Bought this because the wireless adapter in my laptop went kaput. I bought a Linksys AE1200 USB adapter, which worked fine, but was a bit bigger than I wanted if I had to live with this for the long term. Read good reviews on the Belkin, so I took the plunge. It was a lot pickier about logging onto my university's enterprise network, for some reason, but I got it worked out. Got great speeds -- my wireless connection generally topped around 40 Mbps on a GOOD day, and I've gotten anything from 19 to 35 Mbps on this, which works just fine for me. It got slightly better speeds than my Linksys adapter when I tested them one after another.

The signal seems to be fine, for me. Our routers are in the hall in my dorm, so it picks up at 4-5 bars through a wall and at least 20-30 feet of distance. I get full signal in big lecture halls, etc.

It's a nice size -- the bulk of it is just a bit longer than the USB plug itself, so it only sticks out a bit. I probably wouldn't keep it plugged in while in the bag, but it doesn't make me feel like I'll constantly knock at it or anything.

LED light isn't too annoying, even at night, as it's inside the case. The unit gets warm, but not scalding.

Cons: Though I get great speeds when I initially plug in the unit, after 3-10 minutes, it will suddenly cut down to crawling. My university wireless is solid as a rock -- even at night, when everyone is at it, it trucks on at a quick speed. I've tested it going from 20+ Mbps to 0.5 Mbps, which cuts into even basic browsing, Netflix viewing, etc. The unit doesn't have enough time to overheat or anything that might explain this occurence, so I have NO idea why this drop-out is happening.

I also get the occasional completely dropped connection.

I get no problems like this from my Linksys adapter, which has been flawless and shows no such dropped speeds. I'm extremely disappointed, as I really wanted to like the Belkin adapter due to its size.

Overall Review: If I can figure out why this is happening and have a consistent product, I would 100% keep the Belkin. I just can't seem to figure it out.

4 out of 5 eggsN300 micro adapter

Pros: It worked. I was connected to the internet within 10 minutes of opening the box.
Various broadband speed tests showed it was delivering comparable internet download speeds to my wired 10/100 router. This was with the adapter 25 feet from my wireless router.

Cons: None really.

Overall Review: I bought this for internet access. Not for high speeds between my networked computers. I have not tested this and I don't care.

5 out of 5 eggsBelkin N300 Micro Wireless

Pros: Works as expected. Word to those reporting issues, make sure you're 2.4GHz radio is set for 40MHz.

Cons: None. 270Mbps datarate as I write this review.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small, easy to install

Cons: horrible have it plugged into my desktop thats 20-25 feet away from my router. horrible lag and tried playing games online huge lag spikes and constant d/c. Tested speed on speedtest was getting less that 1mb per sec. Tried my laptop sitting right next to it got 8+mb per sec.

Overall Review: not wasting my time with belkin anymore had a n150 adapter caused same problems returned and got this one didnt notice an improvement in speed or anything...

Manufacturer Response:

Hello lets go magic,

Thank you for writing your review. The speed issues you are having are definitely an odd case. The range on this particular adapter would be a bit lower than a normal full size adapter due to the physical size difference for the antenna. Please contact us at customercare@belkin.com and we can have a senior technician contact you to troubleshoot the low throughput speeds.

Belkin Support

2 out of 5 eggsGood for internet, thats it though

Pros: Small and good range.

Cons: - Some reviews said it was PnP but that's not the case so on my ultrabook I had to download it and the Belkin website was meh so much so I had to Google the driver which took me to a support Q/A on the Belkin site ha. I'm sitting less than 5ft from my Linksys WRT610N dual band router and it says 300Mbps but when transferring from a 1Gbps wired connection I get less than 5Mbps transfer rate but when I plug back in my 100Mbps connection i get over 10Mbps. My entire house is wired so that's 5 different IP's hard wired. This is the only thing in my house that's wireless and still a bad transfer rate. Not sure what test Belkin does but it wasn't good enough.

- Wish it operated on the 5Ghz channel as well but whatever.

Overall Review: - Bottom line: Good for internet browsing only! With no PnP things like my WD media player and TV won't take it and the transfer rate is so bad it wouldn't be a viable option anyway for streaming.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job well

Pros: Easy installation (Plug and Play all the way, no problems.)
Cheap cost.
Low profile / Space use.
Effective wireless even buried under desks.

Cons: Haven't found any, yet. Will update as we use the product more.

Overall Review: I have purchased two of these wireless adapters. One for use on my son's computer, here at home, and another for use in a computer my parents have. One is on Windows XP and the other is on Windows 7 Home.

Each installation was equally simple and fast, with no problems. Both are varying distances from the access points (with the furthest at about 30 feet and through 3-4 walls) and give maximum connection with no noticeable loss. Ever since install, there have been no problems on either adapter. Easily forgotten and left to do its job.

Pros: Small and inexpensive

Cons: I was able to get 300mbps for the first month or so, now I only get it up to 130mbps,I checked the router set up and everything's where it needs to be, so now I have an adapter that does less than 150mbps.....

4 out of 5 eggsSeems to play loose with the reported connection speed.

Pros: Small and definitely capable of being fast. Wireless to wired transfers between computers average 6-7 MB /sec in my super congested apartment complex, whereas G speed wireless was only capable of producing about 1.5 MB per second on rare occasion.

Cons: I am a little suspicious of the speeds this device reports to the computer. It seems to constantly say 300 mbps or 54 mbps depending which type of network you're on, and the speeds I actually experience don't come close at times, so bear in mind it will be faster than your traditional 802.11g adapter, but difficult to say how much faster it actually is without running your own tests. There are more than 30 available networks in range of our apartment, so I *really* doubt this adapter is connecting at the full rate.

Overall Review: The adapter has another constantly blinking blue LED I wish I could turn off.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Thank you for writing your review. Regarding the speeds you are perceiving, Even though a connection is connected at 300Mbps (Mega Bits Per Second) you still have other devices connected which can slow down the through put capabilities of the router. This is the same when using 54g or even 11b wireless connections instead of N300. You will notice a boost in speed when going from a G to an N connection but the amount noticed will be dependent upon how congested the router is with wireless connections.

If you ever have any questions or comments for us please write us at customercare@belkin.com.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: .....reliable for two weeks.

Cons: It started off great, download/upload speed was reasonably decent, after the second week of owning this however the speed went bad. It started dropping the signal from a router 20 feet away. If I even attempt to play online games the signal goes haywire and drops me or I lag terribly making the game unplayable. If I have more than three people in a skype call the signal strength drops to three bars.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for writing your review. The skype issue you are having is very odd as skype would not effect signal strength. There might be something else near you that is interfering with the wireless signal. 4 out of 5 eggsgreat for price

Pros: small, powerful, quick to connect (unlike my wireless card) works on later models (i'm using belkin n600) and earlier models (backwards compatible)

5 out of 5 eggsIt Just Works

Pros: Full 5-bar signal. I read lots of reviews on other devices and they seemed to be cheaply made, so I went with Belkin. It connected perfectly to my Verizon router, which is set up on a seperate floor in my house. Took me less than a minute until I was up and running. The setup CD was a nice bonus.

I work with a lot of music and need to download/upload large files. My experience so far has been great. My internet is extremely fast and I really couldn't think of anything else I could want here.

Cons: None - it works. No problems. Easy set up.

Overall Review: If you're looking for a no-frills adapter that is small (not the smallest out there) and works, I suggest this one.

1 out of 5 eggsLOL

Pros: It's small. Love that.

Cons: It is garbage. Shows 5 bar (maximum) signal strength but lags bad in Battlefield 3. Ran 10 tests at speedtest dot net and im showing download of 4-10mbps (it varies) and upload of 0.5-0.7 (it varies). I was mad so I ran speedtest dot net on the laptop sitting right next to the computer. 10 tests averaged 18-20mbps download and 2.4-2.8 upload. I am on a 24mbit connection. Don't waste your money on this garbage. It's garbage for the dump.

Overall Review: I bougt this because everyone was giving perfect reviews. Not so perfect meow is it.

1 out of 5 eggsThis model F7D2102 is outdated. NO Belkin Tech Support available !!

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: The F7D2102 version of the Belkin N300 Adapter is OUTDATED. Tried to get tech support from Belkin, on 3 day old one, not happening. These are being sold everywhere, at low price. I guess this is why. Connect speed 80Mbps at best, goes down from there. Advertised at up to 300Mbps.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A lot faster than the egg saver shipping !

Cons: Let me get this right Newegg, you send it out UPS so they can transfer it over to the USPS and they handle the rest of the shipping. Why don't you just mail it out ? USPS doesn't stop at your business ?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Put the CD in. Installed in 1 minute and then put the USB in and I was good to go.

P.S Got this for a pretty good price. I've been meaning to buy this for a while now. Waited till Black Friday but the price was still around $27-30. So, I guess I got luck since Newegg had a $7 promo discount. Got it for $22 in the end. Good deal

Cons: None so Far

2 out of 5 eggsno 802.11n support??

Pros: it connects at 54MB. Gets me online. Easy setup. Very compact.

Cons: Brand new custom PC running clean install of win7 as of today. Plugged this guy in and it ONLY gets online at 54MB even though I have a dual band 802.11n router (Apple Airport Extreme. My Macbook Pro gets on at n-speeds (300mb+) no problem and both machines are in the same room. I tried adjusting the router (turned off 5 GHz, changed the wireless channel as suggested by belkin tech support), got the latest driver, ran all windows updates. NOTHING. The wireless network menu won't even show my faster network as an option.

Overall Review: Called belkin tech support. The guy was friendly, but THE MOMENT I mentioned I had an Apple router, he basically washed his hands of me and told me to contact Apple, EVEN though I told him that my other computers work JUST FINE with this router! FYI - I'm actually an apple certified tech so I think I know what I am doing. I still cannot get a straight answer as to why I cannot take advantage of the as-advertised theoretical 300mb transfer rates!
