Big Changes in Laptops 2013

The distinction between laptops and ultrabooks can be somewhat confusing. As a matter of fact, Intel created guidelines for ultrabooks in 2011, which stipulate that the machines must be below a certain weight limit, meet performance standards, and cost less than $1000.

Traditional notebooks, on the other hand, are more unique than their slim counterparts because companies don't have to adhere to the universal code. The devices offer high-quality performance and strong computing power. Additionally, laptops feature important components like optical drives that ultrabooks often lack.

Manufacturers aren't resting on their laurels when it comes to laptops. In 2013, consumers can expect to see some groundbreaking hardware that may change the face mobile computing.

Windows 8 Changes Everything

Windows 8, the new operating system from Microsoft, has been gaining popular appeal with its customizable Live Tiles interface, flexible hardware options, faster boot time, SkyDrive integration, and much more. In 2013, most laptops will run on Microsoft's latest operating systems.

Future Plans from Intel

In addition to Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system, Intel has some new plans in store for laptops as well. A primary goal for Intel would be to improve the battery life of every laptop with its new processors. Mashable writes that Haswell will consume less than 7 watts of power, which will increase battery life to over 17 hours of continuous use. The company has even higher hopes for ultrabooks and promises all-day battery life for slim notebooks.

Consumers will see some amazing new laptops hit the market in the coming months. Groundbreaking innovations from companies like Microsoft and Intel will change consumer electronics forever.
