3 out of 5 eggsDied in 12.1 months

Pros: Good signal after configuration. Covered most of house. Looks great on the ceiling

Cons: Radio died. Lost wifi. Installation of controller is fixed once the AP is adopted. Had to reload controller and reset the AP as the laptop I originally used is not is service any longer. After getting connected the the AP everything was good/Green. Hhowever the signal output of the radio of none (not a number dBm). Tried to RMA but was denied due to unit bought over 12 months ago. No help. I guess you need to go into this level of product knowing they are disposable. I had higher expectation from Ubiquity from reviews. Use of controller is great for business or large multiple unit installation but troublesome for single home use

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: PoE, aesthetically pleasing, nice management console, individual client bandwidth management at the AP!

Cons: Java required for management console. Really? Java? Hopefully a future iteration will drop Java.

Other Thoughts: Really nice, simple install, and easy management interface.

5 out of 5 eggsQuickly Impressed

Pros: Works very well. Stronger signal than anything else I have tried. Awesome configuration capabilities. Management tools work in Windows, Mac and Even Linux (which is what I am using).

Cons: POE is required, comes with an injector, but a minor PITA. Management tools may be overkill for a small setup. Need to have a machine designated to manage it. They appear to keep working when management machine is off, but I am not sure if they will stay working long-term w/o a management machine.

Other Thoughts: I have tried several netgear, linksys, ISP specific, and other wifi routers/access points. Most let me down and could not get strong signal in my 2 story house. One of these in the living room has VERY strong signal to every room. I bought 2 initially not realizing how well they worked. Now I have redundancy!

5 out of 5 eggsEnterprise AP on a budget

Pros: For less than benjamin you get a low profile ceiling/wall mount managed access point. It also comes with a POE adapter! Signal strength is excellent. I had a Netgear N300 and this guy has twice the range with excellent propagation (ceiling mount, highest point in house).

If you have drop ceilings there is a backing plate for tiles. Management software is nice with an option for importing and placing units on building diagrams.

Cons: POE is a nonstandard 24V unit. Didn't bother me as I don't have a POE switch. There is no power option on the AP itself, just the RJ45 input. Mounting screws are pretty fragile, do not try going directly into stud/ceiling joist.

Other Thoughts: If you have a POE switch, they offer a 48V <-> 24V POE adapter. My windows 7 boxes don't list this guy under network neighborhood. Before you can use it you have to load the management software, search and 'adopt' the AP.

5 out of 5 eggsThese Are Great!

Pros: My users ( real estate agents ) generally have no to very little knowledge of computers and networking. I wanted a system to be able to deploy wireless to the branch offices so that when agents would use different offices they didn't have to configure settings on their laptop for each office. I know that you can take typical access points and configure them all with the same settings and install them, but usually there is no way to manage them from one location or system. If you wanted to make a change you would have to connect to each access point and make those changes.

I am the IT manager for my company. I have several of these running in branch offices in different cities in my area. I have a server in my main office which runs the controller software and site to site VPN connections to each branch office. Upon initial setup It takes a little configuration to set the "inform" URL on these access points so that they see the server (controller) on a different subnet (example: server is on 192.168.10.xxx and one branch office uses 192.168.20.xxx subnet), but once I can adopt them into the controller they provision and work great.

My users can move from office to office and their computers, tablets, phones and other WiFi gadgets all connect seamlessly no matter which office they are in. I can manage the access points from one location with the controller software. If I need to make a change I make it in the controller and it deploys that change out to all the access points at each location.

I am a fan of these. They seem to be very reliable and easy to use and manage, especially considering the low price of these compared to other Business or Enterprise level systems with some comparable features.

Cons: I really do not have any cons to report right now. These are running solid for me in businesses and homes.

Other Thoughts: A number of users on here and other review sites have mentioned that these do not support the standard 802.11af POE standard. They mention that this is frustrating because they cannot use standard POE switches to power these.

This is not entirely true, You can use standard 802.11af POE switches to power these, but you are required to purchase a small adapter that Ubiquiti makes. The adapter goes inline between the POE switch and the access point and drops the +48v POE switch power to the required power for these units. You can purchase the adapters for around $20.

I have installed a number of these using the adapters and they work great.

Granted, it is a bit of a pain to pony up the additional cost for the adapters, but these are still less than $100 per unit ( including the extra $20 ). When you consider the higher cost of other big name business wireless gear, these certainly still shine.

5 out of 5 eggsBest WiFi Experience Ever

Pros: - Rock Solid Stable
- Excellent Range (even through multiple walls/floors)
- Excellent Wifi Connectivity Speed
- Easy Setup
- Excellent Software

Cons: It wasn't free

Other Thoughts: I live in a 3 story house (including finished basement) in a neighborhood that is absolutely saturated with home wifi signals. I went through 4 different standard home routers (linksys, tp-link, d-link, etc) and all of them were troublesome. Poor range, slow speeds, and required frequent rebooting.

I finally decided to spend a little more money and get a wired router and this enterprise level wifi AP. The AP is mounted on my ceiling in center of house on top floor. I get full signal strength in all locations of my house and outside in my yard. Testing on my phone I was able to consistently get 20+Mbs down which is far better than the normal 3-4Mbs of standard home routers. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsenterprise performance for the home

Pros: Powerful.
Stable.
Not terribly expensive.

Cons: A little expensive.
The management software's reliance on Java can be problematic... if the app reports it cannot start Java, Java has to be killed in task manager/processes to continue.

Other Thoughts: Once installed and configured, this is a product that you will want to keep for a long time. If you are having issues with consumer grade Wi-Fi devices, install one of these and end your problems.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Way To Extend A Wireless Network!

Pros: Comes with all necessary adapters, mounting brackets & hardware; Easy to configure for your network; Provides a strong 2.4GHz WiFi output that has excellent propagation characteristics.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: This is my 1st experience with Ubiquiti products, and I must say it has met every expectation. Easy to mount, easy to setup. And it works really well.

I deployed it in a multi-building environment to provide WiFi access to a building 300 feet from the existing router and it's now providing a solid 4 to 5 bars signal to the Windows 7 computers in the remote building.

Why anyone would choose a consumer-class appliance for this job is now beyond me- With the UAP-LR available for under $100.00 it's clearly the champion in this arena.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Signal Range!

Pros: The signal range on this model is fantastic. No problems configuring. The software is very nice, but with only 1 AP, not so necessary, but I will be adding one or two more in the upcoming months and it should really shine then.

Comes with everything needed to wall or ceiling mount. I ceiling mounted it and it looks great. Much slimmer than it looked in pictures.

Cons: Only con I can think of is that is doesn't use the more common POE standard, so even with most POE capable switches you still need to use the injector it comes with or get the converter cable from Ubiquiti.

More of an installation thing, no real negative on function, so I didn't drop an egg for it, as the product is very nicely executed.

5 out of 5 eggsThere is a good reason these require a waiting list

Pros: Easy to install, easy to configure, easy to manage, great coverage.

We are using a couple of these in our office. We bought them direct, and we resell them. They have a strong signal, and we have had no connectivity issues on our network. They work extremely well, better in fact than the cisco aps we were pushing before these.

The true pros on these are seen when you buy the 3 pack, or if you have a large campus area to cover (I setup 11 of these on a school campus). The management software is easy to use, and with a properly scaled map you can get a fairly accurate heat map representing your coverage area. Auto discovery and configuration make these extremely easy to manage and configure. Multiple VLANS are easy to configure and manage as well.

We had full bars on a Lenovo laptop in a downstairs basement with a concrete ceiling even though the ap was upstairs mounted on a 15' high ceiling. We put one of these in a school gym office and it lost 1 bar when we crossed to the far corner of the gym opposite from the office.

We had a laptop have a stronger signal on one of these 2 buildings over than the cisco ap in the same room.

These are absolutely incredible.

Cons: Not a huge benefit with just 1, the benefits of these are seen when using multiple ap's over a large coverage area. The management software is pointless with just one. Also, not so much a major con, but the mounting plate is a little hard to unlock on some of these. Some were perfect while others locked and I thought was going to break it when unscrewing the ap from the plate on a couple.

The biggest con is the wait, but that just shows that these are worth it. If you can find someone that has these in stock (Like Newegg) then don't hesitate.

Other Thoughts: I don't have a major need for one of these in my home. I have a small space and therefore there's not a huge benefit to having just 1. These are about scalability, easy management, and the coverage you get on a large campus with these is absolutely unbelievable.
