4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Sound are very nice that I like Sennheiser over Beats.

Cons: I like the over the phone instead of on-ear model. It is a little uncomfortable over a period of time wearing it.

Other Thoughts: I do recommend this if on-ear doesn't bothers you.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Sound!

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Great sound quality
Sturdy design
Light weight
Awesome bass
Great accessories: great case and awesome cords
One of the best sounding headphones I've ever put on my ears!

Cons: My only gripe are the ON-EAR headphones. They are uncomfortable to me and there is a LOT of noise leakage. I like listening to loud music with heavy bass and when I put these on, everyone in the room can hear me listening to music. Unfortunately, I use them at work and I work in an office so it's just not appropriate.

Other Thoughts: Over all, these are one of the best sounding headphones I've ever put on my ears! If you don't mind the ON-EAR design and the noise leaking while listening to loud music, then these will be perfect for you....and I would recommend it (just to get the cool looking case that comes with these headphones).

4 out of 5 eggsTotally worth it

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Great bass, sound, looks.

Cons: My ears hurt and get hot after a while of having them on. I guess it just depends on the person's ear so don't take my word for it.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent with problems

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: High quality construction, good sound.

Cons: Supplied connector was useless. Bought another connector to connect headset to PC and Mic had no sound. (Other headsets still worked with the connector so this is a Sennheiser problem)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy!

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Excellent Newegg buy. I purchased this because of the reviews and sale price. I won't repeat the positive reviews since I agree 100%.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased several Headphones that were on sale in the past hoping to find some that fit my taste in sound. These did just that.

2 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, nicely made but painful

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Accessories nice, sturdy construction, sound bass and trebs nice.

Cons: simply uncomfortable for extended wear. My ears hurt after 15minutes, which is really unfortunate, since I wanted to really like these.

Other Thoughts: I'm probably going to give the Momentum over ears a try, because I like the sound from the Momentum line.

5 out of 5 eggsNice headphones

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: These things sound pretty awesome, mind you I wouldn't by no means consider myself an audiophile. The bass is strong. Most bass I have had in a set of headphones. The rest of the ranges are crisp and clear, no distortion.

Comes in great packaging. Has a case, as well as a dust bag. Nice to have them to store the headphones when not use.

Comes with interchangeable cords, one with an Apple product control, and one regular one, which I am using after I figured out how to change the cords.

They look pretty cool too. Pretty stylish with the stainless band.

Very lightweight.

Good overall buy.

Cons: Cannot think of any at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Got these for a lot less than the posted price because of a promo code that I got in an Newegg advertisement e-mail. Would be a great investment, even at the normal price.

5 out of 5 eggsOld-World Looks, Amazing Sound, One Caveat

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: Although not as "high-end" as Sennheiser's "open-ear" lineup of audiophile headphones (ie: HD800 / 700 / 650 / 600), the Momentum On-Ears provide much of the audiophile experience in a setup that can be driven by anything ranging from the headphone jack of a smartphone / portable media player, to the input jack on a computer, to a dedicated soundcard, or a DAC-based setup. This is due to the low (18 ohms) impedance that allows it to be used for more than just "home use".

The packaging of the headphones, from the box, to the protective foam, to the semi-hard case and carrying bag, allows for portability within my laptop's bag. This allows me to bring the headphones to school and stream music, listen to CDs / flacs, etc. Additionally, because the headphone packaging is so simplistic, and the headphones themselves are not "gaudy" like other "youth-oriented" brands, they exude a sense of class. The headphone itself though, is a bit austere - with a small "foam / velour" strip as the only "bumper" against the top of the head. However, the light weight of the headphones means that a thick pad found on other headphones such as Sennheiser's HD600 series and up, is not necessary. Adjustability is done by friction-based rubber mounts that slide on the stainless steel rail-system, for an easy-to-adjust, but solidly "placed" earpiece. It may be easy to move, but there won't be undue movement.

Sound Quality: If you've been listening to the more popular headphones for college students (starts with a b, and ends in an s)... then the Sennheisers, due in part to a dedication to optimal sonic experience, but also due to the stainless steel headband / frame, provide immense clamping power to the head, which results in a more efficient listening experience. Even while listening to music with a bass-heavy presence at 25% volume, the ability to clamp the closed-ear "cans" to the head results in a much lower incidence of sound leakage. Those of you who have larger ears, may wish to try both this version, and the over-ear version, before deciding. Either way, whichever set fits your ears best will provide much listening enjoyment for you, and silence for those around you. Additionally, basses are tight, and treble is rich without running into "spiky / ear-splitting territory". That is, the bass is very rich, but it does not feel loose or mushy; it's tight, and yet that tightness does not compress the sound.

Lastly, the twist-n-lock cable prevents accidental tripping / removal of the cable. Great feature because it ensures that your headphones are well-connected, and at the same time, prevents something such as a trip / fall, from compromising the connection.

Note: YOU MAY HAVE TO SPEND A LITTLE TIME BREAKING IN THE DRIVERS BEFORE YOU OBTAIN THE IDEAL SOUND.

Cons: The stainless steel frame of the headstrap is a LOT sturdier than it looks, and it clamps to the head to an extent where wearing with glasses, or other cranially-connected / wrapped parts may find discomfort. The remedy to this is to wear the headphones until they begin to conform to your head. This is only a con until the stainless band is acquainted to the nuances of your head.

Subjective: Some may complain that the closed-ear setup results in a less "live" sound with a smaller soundspace. This argument is not invalid, but could one wear a set of $300 open-ear headphones to a library or computer lab, without incurring the ire of those surrounding you who are forced to listen to "leaked music?". Such a trade-off requires due analysis (hence, subjective tag).

Subjective: Unlike other "youth-oriented" headphones, these headphones do have a serious bent to them... much like thier higher-end counterparts, you may need to take some time to break in the drivers. Assuming that they will give their optimal performance out of the box could lead to disappointment. The headphones are not boxy once they are allowed to "break in".

Other Thoughts: For the price paid, these headphones punch WELL above their weight-class. They have a build quality not seen in most "youth-oriented" headphones, and have a sound signature that is pleasing for a multitude of listening purposes, whether it is streaming MP3's of classical music, jazz-fusion on a CD, or even high-quality (ie: 24/192) flac files. There is a full tonal spectrum from deep bass to clear, rich, but not tinny (AT ALL!) treble that rewards the listener for choosing a company that specializes in audiophile / high-end listener enjoyment.

If you, or someone you know, appreciates music and accessing its finer points on a computer, home theatre / audiophile setup, or even on a smartphone... and you are, (or he / she is) willing to spend the time needed to break the headphones in (40 hours, MINIMUM of high-quality audio files), the reward of a portable, classy, and responsive headphone is well worth the small foible of the over-built headband.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Headphones

This review is from: Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear Headphones - Black

Pros: These headphones have excellent build quality and great sound. These headphones will blow away any monster or beats products no doubt. Enough said.

Cons: Why is this even here.

Other Thoughts: Great headphones for the price.
