5 out of 5 eggsMy First Home Theatre System

Pros: System came complete, everything was easy to hook up and assembly. Did have to splice in speaker wire extensions to mount the speakers but as I have all the tools and speaker wire easy to find no problem. I went with wall mounts which I picked up from another source, speakers were very light so no weight issues.
Once hooked up played several Blu-ray movies and found the picture and sound quality excellent.

Cons: As my home has a shallow roof pitch was not able to run the speaker wires down from the ceiling. So had additional cost procuring wire conduit and mounting clamps and speaker mounts.
So next time I will look into buying another or replacement home theatre system will look at wireless type for the speakers.

Other Thoughts: I am running a Samsung 50 inch smart TV with this 5.1 Samsung Home Theatre System, very pleased with picture quality and now sound quality. As this is my first Home Theatre Sound system very pleased with the improved sound, did not realize what I had been missing.
So no complaints about the extra effort to install the system it was worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsSamsung quality

Pros: * Dummy proof installation. All speakers and wires are color coded for an easy installation
* Typical shiny Samsung appearance (clean look)
* Samsung Bluray is quieter and faster than my old one it replaced
* Bluray player has the typical smart TV apps installed
* USB on the front panel for easy hookup of external HDD or Flashdrive
* Love the fact that the Samsung TV pics up the Bluray as a home theater system. When you watch a movie through the TV the bluray will run as an audio receiver / kind of like an external speaker system
* Bluray includes 3d playback
* 5.1 Surround sound is very decent for the price.

Cons: * Speaker wires are super thin and too short. Front speakers have plenty of wire but the rear speakers are too short for a clean routing along the wall (or ceiling).
* The speaker wires connect through a special connector on the back of the unit of the player. I'm sure you can somehow get the connector but it doesn't look standard. If you ever have to replace that end it won't be easy.
* Mounting brackets for the speakers are not included
* The sub is very weak but can be tweaked a little through the Bluray menu.
* Speakers use a very tiny/small keyhole mounting type.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great setup. I did list plenty of Cons but you do have to consider this is a really cheap setup and for beginners probably the best bang for your buck. |
I bought the system when it was on sale and I think the price was appropriate for what I have received.
I was disappointed that I had to place a 2nd order after receiving this box because the wires for the rear speakers were too short (got some 16awg copper speaker wire) and some mounting brackets. The speakers only have a keyhole mounting point so installing the brackets was not as secure as I had hoped for (you bump against them and they move around).

I like the fact that the wires are just inserted into the back of the speakers without the use of special connectors. This should make an upgrade easier if I ever decide to buy a bigger sub instead of a new system.

The fact that I simply needed a new Bluray (4 years old first generation Samsung was dieing on me) and found this one with 3d and 5.1 speaker system made me very happy. I'd buy it again if I needed to.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Easy to set-up and works great with a new 47" LED 3D Passive TV. The remote has an easy and logical lay-out without being a huge remote. Has optical digital audio input, aux input in case a person does not on their TV. Love fact they thought to place USB 2 input on the front for easy connection of peripherals.

Cons: Like other reviews, I did not care for the subwoofer that came with it and fortunately, the system I was replacing had a great subwoofer and utilized same wire-insert-type speaker connection on rear. I wrongly assumed like ANY stereo component, it would have a headphones output but sadly it does not but am going to try a wireless headphone in future and these two things are only reason took one egg away because otherwise it's a great system for its price.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to finally get Blueray, DVD, CD player that also had at least an FM tuner to replace my old surround system. having the "Smart Features" such as APPS and such are a nice bonus but with many options already with my particular cable set-up, will probably not use them. I would have liked to be able to tweak the sound more so but happily found could do that through the new TV and digital optical audio in to this player. Would do it again at this price.
