5 out of 5 eggs Nice case

Pros: Not too big, not too small. Looks nice

Cons: Placement of on/off, reset buttons

Other Thoughts: Nice case, don't really have any complaints - just 1 caveat, this may not be the case for you if you have cats. I got up a few times in the middle of the night to find my computer on, the switches are on top & the perfect size for little cat paws. I was also in the middle of playing Skyrim one day, and my cat jumped right on the reset switch. I don't think that's worthy of taking an egg off, just be aware.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very impressive in the number of features they were able to integrate. There is a crazy amount of detail to cable routing and a lot of intelligent thought went into the overall design and layout.

Cons: For the price of this case, honestly I was expecting better material/build quality. Maybe it as to cut down on weight, but the material and construction on this case was a little flimsy, nothing really special compared to your run of the mill inexpensive case. I might be spoiled by my last case because one of its features was thicker steel and that thing is stout.

The slide in attachments are a little flimsy, but haven't run into issues yet.. However, the hard drive mounting scheme is sub-optimal. At first it seemed nice, but I since changed my mind due to the fact that you have to remove both sides of the case to insert or remove drives, nearly defeating the entire point of side/rail mounted hard drives and the easy removable latching side panel. The drives go into a cassette and slide into the tray from the "front," but this aligns the drive connections to the blind side of the case. This is good if the interior cable routing "clean" look is the absolute only thing you care about. All access and connections really should be done from just one side of the case. IMO, the only time I want to remove the "back" side panel is when I put the system together, I don't want to have to be getting in there to have to add or change out drives.

5 out of 5 eggsSetup like a dream

Pros: Easy to setup, no real problems. fans nicely placed to keep the system cool as advertised (which of course keeps it nicely quiet)

Cons: none past the usual problems with a mid tower vs a full tower, that is that things get crowded after awhile

4 out of 5 eggsNewegg dropped the ball, but I wont dock the case for it

Pros: The case itself is very nice to have. The xdock bays on the front are really useful for hard drive swapping, and the cable management system works well for me.

Cons: Make sure you screw down the top plastic covers with the provided screws to give them extra security to hold them in place. There's nothing in the instructions about this, but once you remove the top cover you can see the screw posts and the matching holes in the case. It seems like the screw should come installed from the factory to prevent case damage, but hopefully my incident was isolated.

I'm a big fan of steel cases with minimal plastic because they hold up forever, and that is a little bit more reinforced after my experience.

Other Thoughts: Case arrived broken, no visible damage to box. The whole top of the case is two large plastic covers and they had somehow been jammed so hard they were broken free with loose plastic rattling around inside the case.

I had ordered all my parts with 2day shipping because of a time constraint to build the system the following weekend. All of the parts arrived on time, including the broken case. When I had to RMA it, newegg wouldn't send the replacement until they had received mine (I had to RMA over the phone instead of the website because of their broken items policy, so I also had to call the following day during their business hours). I told the associate on the phone that I had spent around $70 for shipping my whole order 2day which had just gone down the drain, because I wouldn't be able to build my system within the timeframe I needed. He told me that my case would be replaced and shipped to me when they received the broken one and that he tagged it to receive free 2day shipping. A week after I sent the case, the RMA processed and then a few days later they credited me with a refund for just the base price of the case and I never heard from them again.

I re-bought the case the following week from another vendor locally. It was not broken and I didn't have to pay shipping.

I've spent over $3000 on newegg since 2009 building systems, but I think I've decided to move on to other venues. I obviously can't count on them when I have a time constraint and never want to go through this process again.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Tons of Room, Looks like you could mount anything in there. plenty of Air Flow. I moved the top fan to the side because of Water cooler Addition.

Cons: Does not fit on the top of my desk. Would but I don't want to restrict the airflow from the top. Neagtive egg ro myself for not checking size

Other Thoughts: currently out of stock. Really wanted another from a friends build

1 out of 5 eggsBroken!

Pros: It came within the shipping date I asked for.

Cons: It's smashed! The top panel and the housing for the front I/O are smashed to pieces and won't sit securely! I am very frustrated and disappointed in UPS for doing this to a product. This is inexcusable!

Other Thoughts: Maybe go through a shipper that takes better care of their deliveries?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,
I'm sorry for the troubles you had with your HAF XM order. I highly recommend talking to your carrier (UPS as you mentioned) and vendor (Newegg) for things like shipping damages, as there is usually some level of coverage for these things. If you need any support or information from us, please use the Contact Us link below in order to talk to us directly.

Regards,
Kevin with Cooler Master

4 out of 5 eggsCame broken

Pros: Fan space, space inside the interior, ease of hooking up hardware

Cons: It came with a broken piece of the top fan area.. when the cover goes over the fans.

Other Thoughts: Took off 2 eggs. Talked to Newegg, they said they don't have a control over defective products.. tells me to contact coolermaster on the issue. The box wasn't beat up, but soon as I took the case top part off with the thumb screen a plastic chunk came flying out at me.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Design

Pros: I am impressed with the design of this case. Some manufacturers (Antec) will throw in 2 small 120mm fans on the front and maybe on their most popular model use a 200mm blowing out the top with screws being required to remove the cover and clean the fans, but not Cooler Master. They put a 200mm on the front and one one on top with room to install a second 200mm out the top with panels that come off quickly to clean. With all the air flow the case is going to accumulate dust and being able to access these areas easily is awesome. The hard drive slide mounts were super easy and I was able to quickly install my 6 hard drives. The side panels are designed to give extra room without adding too much to the footprint. This design allows the installation of 2.5" SSD drives on the backside of the motherboard on one side and the ability to add more fans to the other vented side. I love the design that allowed me to install my 2 Cooler Master 120mm fans on the backside of my hard drives. It seems they thought of every possible location to install a fan and have added the mounts for them. I am sure they would be happy to sell you their fans to fill all the possible locations. The latch on the side panel that some have complained about I have no problems with. It opens quickly and easily and I am able to close it just as easy with no problems. It is lightweight but I would not categorize it as flimsy.

Cons: The box at the bottom to control the cables was the only design that I question. It does allow one of the extra fans I installed to blow air through the box directly to the power supply but it did not seem to improve my cable management. If the box is simply for air flow reasons I understand it but it got in the way of my cable organization.

3 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Haf XM

Pros: owned this case for about 6 months. My first build. easy access & easy to upgrade.

Cons: After about 4 months, the top 200MM fan became noisy & Cooler Master replaced it for me under warranty. I now have another (or maybe the same fan) that is getting noisy again. Although I'm sure that Cooler Master will replace it, I believe my next build will look at another manufacturers case.

5 out of 5 eggsHAF XM

Pros: Im coming from a much older system that had nowhere near the airflow this unit has. Went from atx to eatx mb while reusing some of the older components including video card, The gpu idled at 75c prior and now sits at 60 to 65 c without bumping up the fan speeds, that's an incredible temperature drop. The cable management is second to none, unlimited storage capabilities, future upgradable and easy to water if desired. Im digging it.

Cons: Not really a con but my cpu power wont reach up around back for my X79 so need to procure some extensions to clean up cable management

Other Thoughts: In conjunction with the cooler master Hyper 212 evo my cpu is very happy in this case, all components im seeing considerable lower temps, removable dust shields like my cosmos have would have been nice but still this is a bang for your buck case.
