1 out of 5 eggssave your money

This review is from: Seiki SE24FY10 24" Class 1080p 60Hz LED TV - Black

Pros: It's cheap

Cons: It's cheap

Other Thoughts: I've had this TV for just over a month now, and tonight I've lost the picture completely. Naturally I go see if there's some sort of online tech support, which of course there isn't any! And in my findings I'm seeing a lot of reoccurring reviews that aren't found here on Newegg. Apparently Seiki is notorious for not honoring warranties! I've yet to make a call to the company itself as it is midnight, but I'm not going to hold my breath after seeing all these displeased customers.

Please save your money, don't purchase this TV simply because it's affordable. Hold off and buy something from a more reliable brand.

5 out of 5 eggsNice desktop/entertainment option.

This review is from: Seiki SE24FY10 24" Class 1080p 60Hz LED TV - Black

Pros: Connectivity is surprisingly versatile for such a small television. It only has one of each, but with VGA, HDMI, component, composite and antennae ports, you can rig it with a number of different devices.

I like the top mounted power and menu buttons--it just feels sturdier pressing down instead of pushing up, and they're easier to find in the dark.

Low power even when running, and draws almost nothing while on standby.

Textured screen that almost completely eliminates reflections--excellent for movie viewing.

The 1080p screen is as advertised--crisp image, no broken pixels, and with lots of adjustment options both for the image and sound.

The VGA channel produces an image comparable to most similarly sized computer monitors, although I'd prefer if the port had been DVI--I don't see TVs getting those as a standard for another few years, though.

Cons: Component in doesn't have sound ports, which is alright considering the limited space, but it means getting an adapter so I can send the audio out to my speakers.

I haven't found an option for it to read the HDMI port as coming from a desktop computer--which is how I have it set up--but since I use the desktop primarily for gaming, the visual smudging doesn't really matter.

Was unable to program my Verizon universal remote (cable box) to work with this television, though that may have more to do with the age of my remote rather than the television. It has its own remote, and I'm usually sitting 3' away, so this really isn't a problem, it's just a little annoying.

None of these are worth knocking off any eggs, but, fair warning.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to use as a desktop monitor and media center. It's small by television standards, but as a desktop monitor it's quite large, and much more versatile. In a home office setting, I can use it with my laptop, desktop, television, and gaming console(s), all without constant fussing with changing wires or adapters.

As a stand-alone television, I can't really say how well it would perform--24" is a bit small for most entertainment centers--but in my case it does everything I wanted. Even as I write this review, I'm doing so looking at my laptop being fed through its VGA port, and it's crystal clear.

Basically, if you're looking to do what I did and use a small television as a desktop monitor/entertainment center, I would solidly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HDTV

This review is from: Seiki SE24FY10 24" Class 1080p 60Hz LED TV - Black

Pros: For almost 2 years Ive had Outstanding results from my Seiki HDTV. I use mine as my PC monitor, so I can watch Netflix, Etc. movies in my den. My 2 year old 40 inch Seiki in living room. Works Great. Has all the connections/ features I ever need.

Cons: Mine did not have a headphone jack, this newer one does.

Other Thoughts: Everybody knows the built in speakers on hdtvs dont sound too good,,, so relax, connect extension speakers thru headphone out. This works better anyway, as you get much better stereo effect with speakers extended around tv.
