5 out of 5 eggsamazing for the price

Pros: very nice range and dynamics. I was pleasantly surprised, especially after the price drop I got a little suspicious.
I am mostly using this to listen to my 5.1 surround music Blurays.
Customer service in my case was great too. It took some time, however in the end the problem got solved. One of the satellites was ringing at some higher frequencies. They shipped me a replacement and didn't even ask for old one back.

Cons: none so far. Ringing of one of the satellites was resolved with a new replacement. Ringing came from grill.
main unit could benefit from some more user-friendly software. crashes once in a while but OK

Other Thoughts: at this price I would not hesitate buying this again.

5 out of 5 eggsWhoda thunk a Harmon Kardon for <$400

Pros: What a deal for the money!
Remote control
Speaker hookup using bayonet plugs
Plenty of speaker cable
Beautiful sound
Bluetooth, Ethernet connection
Pandora, YouTube interface built in among others
Solid construction
Simple lines
FM has search capability on remote!
Can program individual buttons on remote for other devices
Comes with wall mount hardware for rears

Cons: Docs included sparse for anything other than wiring.
Docs downloaded from HK Site were great. Finding them was impossible without registering product. (For me at least)
Remote is laid out well but to keep the Spartan use of buttons, its difficult to program the buttons for another device. A popup shows up on the screen and you need to look close to see how to skip to another type.

Other Thoughts: It is one that is manufactured in 2013, I assume last year close out. Could NOT find the model number and had to look up the old Newegg order info still in google trash.

2 out of 5 eggsExpected more from Harman

Pros: The discount.
The subwoofer.

Cons: Value.
Sound quality.
Support.
Freezes.
Airplay conflicts with Apple TV Airplay.

Other Thoughts: This receiver freezes up like a computer and like a computer, it has to be rebooted to function. I use this daily and it freezes twice a week. The airplay functionality interferes with the Apple TV Airplay so we are unable to use Apple TV Airplay. You can't disable the Airplay function. It's always on and even if you aren't paired, it's persistent frequency will cause interference with Apple TV.

This is not a good purchase by any stretch. My Yamaha system has better sound quality. I expected more from Harman; love the system that came with my SUV but this system is poorly designed. Even at a discount there are better options.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy It!!!

Pros: It did not work correctly and the sound was horrible.

Cons: My only satisfaction will be the use of social media and comment sections of websites to display my dissatisfaction and disappointment in how many phone calls and mix-ups there has been in this whole process. Some of which are missing parts, customer service reps that barely speak English, wrong parts shipped, equipment not working and my own shipping cost to return a faulty product. I saved up my money for over a year and all I wanted was a nice working system. I am wondering what the next mix-up will be? Can this experience get any worse??????

4 out of 5 eggsBangin system for small room

Pros: CEC, ARC HDMI, *2*optical ins with 3 HDMI. This compact 5.1 system is very well made for a HTIB, and at this price you'll have a hard time finding one better. I was skeptical when I read the specs and saw the small Subwoofer. Boy was I surprised when I fired it up the first time. This unit is in a 12' X 12' room and it gives a very full experience.

Cons: Menu system is quirky and takes getting used to. Out of the box the unit will take over your TV and change inputs as set. After messing with the details a bit it now works the way I want and makes me smile consistently. As someone else mentioned, the EZ Setup for audio will suck the life right out of the system and sounds best (to me) set to the defaults. For the price I paid it's a great system. For the price HK wanted, ehh...not sure I'd go for it. As is I am glad I did.

Other Thoughts: The world of home theater is competitive. I think that HK built a really well made system in a box and then made some mis-steps in the marketing and packaging. They included flimsy banana plugs, pre-cut wire (good for hay baling, not good for 25' + speaker runs), and sometimes confusing documentation. After spending a bit of time learning the menus and what they actually mean this system has surprised and satisfied me.

It's too bad that NewEgg and others had to blow these out at the prices they did to move this product. Had HK distributed example systems to the usual HT and Stereo rags for review I think these systems would have sold quite well. I for one am quite happy I took the risk and grabbed one.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great system for the (current) price.
Easy to set up (except for EZ-Set EQ).
Remote is actually usable, unlike those bundled with some other systems.
Low power consumption (30W at moderate volume).
Auto power off when inactive.

Cons: Doesn't remember surround settings for Aux input when powered off. Have to cycle through all settings again to get to the one I want,
EZ-set EQ calibration left my speakers sounding horrible. Had to reset everything to default to get rid of it. But default calibration sounds good.

Other Thoughts: Someone complained about channel routing for stereo not working right. Stereo defaults to front speakers only, if you want surround with Dolby ProLogic you need to press the surround button and select it. Read the manual!

4 out of 5 eggsBDS7772 Home Theater

Pros: 1)Great price - $400
2)Awesome looks
3)Sounds great.
4)V.Good build quality - Speakers, Receiver, Sub.
5)Airplay, bluetooth work flawlessly
6)Easy setup
7)Programmable remote. Can control TV, cable receiver along with blu-ray.
8)Blu-Ray and A/v compact system. Its dual voltage 120/240V so a universal receiver. Many questions were asked about it being used in european countries.
Many more...its an awesome package for price.

Cons: 1)No-Wifi as manual says - Ethernet Only.
2)Youtube, Pandora and DLNA are the only network connectivity options
3)System wakes up intermittently. May be a configuration problem from my side. HDMI Input changes automatically sometimes
4)Supplied banana plugs are poor quality. You have to loop in wires to fix them.

Other Thoughts: This system is Stunning both in looks and sound. Its an awesome quality for the price paid ($400) if you are on budget. For small to medium sized rooms this is more than enough. A/V has blu-ray player built in so the 3 HDMI inputs are as good as 4. I'm not sure why an other reviewer found channel control tacky as stereo option is supposed to be 2 channel (left and right), no center speaker. All in all its a great package for $400. Don't buy this if you need all bells and whistles. This definitely suffices my home theater requirements. I only took a star off because of the wake up issues with system. I will work with support and update my review.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent price. Compact speakers. Unique combination of AVR+BluRay player, BDS-577.

Cons: AVR/BR is flakey when used with non-HK speakers, especially using the EZ-Set EQ/configuration. Had to resort to manual settings in order to get proper balance.

Also, the channel routing from stereo to DolbyDigital is inconsistent often playing only the center or only the L/R.

Other Thoughts: Most people with buy this package and use it as a complete system. That should be fine. I bought it with the intent to use the BDS-577 with my own speakers and I cannot recommend that application.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing!!!

Pros: spectacular looks!
amazing sounds for the money!
beautiful remote control!
easy to set up!

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: just received it from newegg 3 days ago , as always incredible service from newegg.
system is exactly what I expected , superior looks , easy to install , receiver is drop dead gorgeous and wires long enough for most rooms.
I set this up in my finished basement and although I was a liitle concerned as to how it will sound because it is surround sound in a box after all I was blown away.
sound quality is simply spectacular , subwoofer is loud enough and bassy enough to cover my entire basement.
I had high end systems in the past and although this one is not as good as some of them , it is perfect fit for my basement with sufficient level of quality and power.
thanks newegg and Harman kardon for saving me some money and providing me with countless hours of enjoyment.
