5 out of 5 eggsGreat little product

Pros: The RAV Power is a really nice device for travel or home server. It is high quality and high speed transfer rates. It is made of strong plastic and all ports on it are strong. The RAV Power also has a 3000 mAh battery to charge your devices. It can charge an iPhone around 2.3 times.

Cons: The RAV Power File Hub application is not too user friendly because sometimes it does not recognize the FileHub. But other than that it is great.

Other Thoughts: After receiving the RAV Power FileHub Wireless SC Card reader with 3000mAh Battery I was skeptical on how fast the product would be for transferring data at what speeds, but after plugging in a SD Card I was amazed. I could switch between 16 MP photos with little to no loading time. The product also is used as a backup battery and a USB NAS/ file hub. This product is very easy to use and comes with a great manual. All you do to set up the device and get it going is download the app RAV Power File Hub, then put a SD Card into the port or a USB into the USB port and turn the device on. On your device ,such as an iPhone, you will see a wireless name such as FileHub-B10E you just connect to it and open up the RAV Power File app. You have many options such as view files, upload, settings and other things. In settings you can change the Wi-Fi name, password, and other things like what type of security on the Wi-Fi. The file hub is great for travel, while on trips you can take the SD Card from your camera and put it in this device and let everyone in your family or friends all of your pictures without having to email them to each person. Also this device is great for car trips. If you have kids in the back of your car you can put movies on a SD or Flash Drive and share an assortment of movies between each. The RAV Power is very useful and also has a 3000 mAh battery great for travel or putting in a car or backpack just in case your phone dies. This can charge an iPhone 5 about 2.3 times. RAV Power strives for quality and they show it, all ports do not feel wobbly or cheap, the batteries are Samsung not a knock off so they work very well and are not a fake 3000 mAh and are really great batteries. RAV Power also made this product have pretty good Wi-Fi range for me it was around 20 feet. Thank you for reading

5 out of 5 eggsVery useful

Pros: Can act as file server on your existing WiFi network.

Accessible from Windows and linux

Minuscule power use, so can be left on

Cons: Documentation is not very good. Prepare to tinker if you want to do anything interesting.

Other Thoughts: It wants to be the Wifi hotspot, with your desktops using it to reach the Internet (it connects to your in-house WiFi). But you don't have to do it that way. The GUI tells you what IP address it got assigned by your router, so you can put this in your linux fstab to mount it:
// /mnt/wifidisk cifs username=admin,password=hex_digit_wifi_key

In Windows you map a drive letter to the same place:
\\192.168.1.X\SDCard_Volume1 using same user & password

You can ssh into this thing, it runs linux

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional product.

Pros: Feature rich. Great solution for streaming media files to smartphones, tablets, laptops, and HTPC boxes. Works great as a wireless router with fast internet access from your wireless modem, wired modem, or wireless router. I'm surprised that it works this well.

Cons: None yet. Set it up and leave it alone. Don't tinker with the settings after you get it running properly. Some things are best left un-tinkered with... If you screw the settings up, don't expect RavPower to waste all day trying to figure out what you messed up. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Other Thoughts: This is a viable solution for streaming media to a smartphone rather than filling up the phone memory or SD card memory of your phone. Offload media on the RavPower SD card (64 Gigabyte if you have one) The file manager is proprietary and works on your Android devices and on a Windows PC running Windows 7 Ultimate 64. I was not able to log in via SSH or FTP. I changed the default settings so that it will recognized my network and will allow access to wireless devices that are on the main internet connection and on a sub-net. It can even see my Roku 3 box!

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate on prior review

Pros: See prior review

Cons: The only way to power the device (and to charge the batteries) is via micro USB input - and this port is far to flimsy. It broke within 2 months and the device is now rendered useless.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product, needs better documentation

Pros: Portable wireless file storage
Connect to 5 devises at once (I have tried 3)
Customer service was prompt in reply via email

Cons: Needs firmware update, had to search to find it on the website (found under the android app update on the download page)
Name of android/iOS app has changed to AirStor

Other Thoughts: Great product that needs Evette's documentation. Would recommend highly once you figure out setup.

4 out of 5 eggsRavPower Works as Advertised

Pros: Worked right out of the box. Had it several feet away and tried it with a iPhone 4S and a Toshiba Excite 10" android tablet (Ice cream). I had some issues with the android tablet after it had worked the first try (see cons). Had to power it down and start over. Had no issues with it streaming to the iPhone 4S. I used a 64GB SD card and a 500GB portable WD drive. Power was supplied by the RAVPower device. Streamed from both sources at same time and then the SD only, then USB only. I setup the RAVPower device to connect with my network. The tablet and iPhone were both able to connect to the internet through it. I connected the RAVPower to my laptop and went through the configuration process.

Cons: I had an error message come up when connecting to the RAVPower through the app on my iPhone. It said the app or firmware did not agree and told ne to check for an upgrade. I checked on their website but there was no upgrade. I clicked ok and proceeded to the SD card with no issues. The movie I streamed played ok.

3 out of 5 eggsProblem setting up

Pros: Small Wireless data transfer for Android

Cons: Does not work out of the box.
Must be within 3 feet for stable connection.

Other Thoughts: Overview says in has a Built-in 2.5” internal hard disk drive. It does not.

The RavPower Wireless WiFi Disk must be turned off to to use as wired USB card reader.

I could not get a stable wireless connection even with the phone within 6 inches of the RavPower WiFi Disk. Tested with 2 android 2.2 phones, one Android 2.3 tablet, one Windows XP Netbook, and one Windows Vista laptop. The wireless connection continually
dropped in and out. Would not stay connected for longer than 5 minutes and fastest transmit speed was only 2 mb. Changed mode to 802.11g only and from auto channel to fixed channel. I am using channel 5 becase my neighbors are not. Changed security from Mixed WPA/WPA2-PSK to WPA2-PSK. I am now connecting at 54 mb and the connection is stable. Must be within 3 feet for stable wireless connection so probablly do not even need encryption.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive, flexible, portable

Pros: It's small, it's light, it accepts a variety of storage devices. It can charge a phone, and run a portable hard drive. And it's easy to configure and run.

Cons: None yet, though I'll be keeping an eye on its actual runtime (the manufacturer says 'up to five hours').

Other Thoughts: I have a Nexus 10 tablet and was looking for something that would allow me to expand its storage capacity. I was interested in the Seagate wireless hard drive, but the price put me off - besides, I already own a 1TB portable hard drive. All I really needed was portable wifi that would let me use my own storage devices. This fit the bill - and at a fraction of the cost of the Seagate drive. I've tried it with a tiny flash drive, an SD card, and my portable hard drive. It performs like a champ with them all. Mine arrived with a short but reasonably detailed user guide that included the password and clear directions. Install the MobileFun app on your device, turn this, find it on your device's list of networks, click the MobileFun app, and you're in business. It didn't take more than five minutes from turning it on to streaming my first movie. If you're looking for more storage for your portable device(s), give this a try. I'm looking forward to using this when I travel.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent when the price is right

Pros: Product works as advertised. Easy to use as configured out of the box. Worked with a USB3 1TB harddrive without issue. Not able to check battery life, but I am betting something less than 3 hours with an SD or USB Stick, and less than 1.5 hours with a Hard drive attached. Manual claims that max current on USB is 1A.

Cons: Did not come with a full manual had to download one from website.

Other Thoughts: Default user id is 'admin' with password blank for unit administration as well as NAS file access.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works!

Pros: I bought similar products in the past. This one actually worked. Configuration is easy once you figure out the default SSID password (11111111). Software for OSX, iOS, Windows and Android exists (to connect to the setup) and to view drive. Shows as device in Finder. Streaming videos to phones, tablets and computers works well. It integrates in your (home) network and does not disrupt your access to the internet. Charging from the battery is a bonus.

Cons: I wish it had an ethernet port. That way it could be used as universal travel router as well. If it also had a DNLA and may be an ITunes server it would be perfect. Yet, that would probably increase the price and decrease the battery time.

Other Thoughts: Its the perfect portable way to increase your disk space especially for videos and other large files. I tried it with a 64GB SD card and a USB drive. I also tried it with two USB connected mechanical drives. One was OK and the other did not get enough power.
