Built with the quality, reliability, and durability that lives up to the OCZ name, the Vertex 3 Series easily integrates into today’s mobile and desktop platforms and features TRIM support to optimize performance over the drive’s lifespan as the ultimate Windows 7 companion.

  • newegg Industry-Leading Performance & Endurance Driven by the second generation of SandForce SSD controller (SF-2281), the Vertex 3 Series is designed and built to unleash the full potential of the 6Gbps SATA III interface. The Vertex 3 pushes the limits in both sequential and random data transfer rates, significantly improving your productivity, gaming, multimedia, and overall computing experience. In addition, the SSD controller’s integrated enhanced DuraClass Technology is architected to leverage today’s densest MLC NAND Flash memory, delivering best-in-class performance, endurance, security, and power efficiency in a “DRAM-less”, single chip solution.
  • newegg A Superior PC Experience In addition to maximum performance, a Vertex3 upgrade promotes cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient conditions compared to traditional mechanical hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs provide peace of mind with their superior durability and reliability. Vertex 3 SSDs work in perfect harmony with next generation platforms and operating systems to deliver the ultimate storage solution.
  • newegg TRIM Support The Vertex 3 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.
  • newegg 2.5" to 3.5" Adapter Included The Vertex 3 Series features a standard 2.5-inch form factor for compatibility with notebooks and select desktops. A 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch mounting bracket is included with the SSD for compatibility with standard hard drive mounting.

1 out of 5 eggsFinally dead, RIP

Pros: Super, extremely fast. SSD. Good price when I got it compared to competition

Cons: I got it before OCZ went bankrupt, and in hindsight there is a good reason they did. Bad RAM, notoriously bad SSDs, the works. I noticed bad sector errors showing up in event viewer about a year ago, left it alone, then got some MBR error 2 on boots (still booted, so didn't care) and finally random full OS freezes. Couldn't even image the drive at that point and CHKDSK didn't have a clue. Had to pitch and start from scratch on a new drive. Most OCZ drives are like this, even after they get their firmware flashed...there's a reason they went the way of the dinosaur, folks. I only write this in case you still have one of them and have been considering replacing yours. It's not a matter of if, but when. Save yourself the trouble, or at least make good backups while you can.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking well

Pros: It's been reliable and fast so far. Windows 8 boots in about 20 seconds.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I used to love OCZ, back in the early 2000's. They've failed me several times since then, and the same customer support guys that were on their forums (back when their forums were hosted on Bleedin Edge forums) basically looked for every excuse not to honor their warranty or acknowledge problems with their products.

Luckily, I haven't had to deal with their customer support as this drive has been rock solid for nearly a year now.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: (I made a mistake putting this review to other version)
I did use this with no problem in almost 7 months.

Cons: Then suddenly BIOS did not detect this SSD,
I shipped back the SSD for$14+
OCZ sent a replacement BUT still not detected by the BIOS.
I search the net, seems this version has a problem.
My recommendation: DON'T EVER BUY THIS PRODUCT Version.

Other Thoughts: Manufacturer Response:
Dear Alakdan,

Generally, this indicates that the problem is related to something other than that specific product. Please contact support again we will do what we can to help you get straightened out. You may also contact our Support Forum and we can look into your issue and help you get sorted out.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks Great, Until it Doesn't Work At All

Pros: I got this at a good price, and when this drive works, it works exactly as advertised.

Cons: And when it fails you get no warning. Boom. 6 months and while I'm opening up chrome my whole computer freezes.

Now I can't even see the drive on the boot menu. When this thing fails, you get no warning and it is catastrophic.

Other Thoughts: I've read that OCZ has serious quality control issues, so I would recommend looking somewhere else and putting down a few extra dollars for something that fails less frequently.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Consumer,

I am very sorry to read about the sudden failure of your Vertex 3. OCZ does utilize highest quality standards and while most drives work perfectly for a vast majority of users, there are cases where failures can and do occur. OCZ will definitely stand behind the product and will provide a replacement per warranty terms. Please contact us at your earliest convenience and we will make arrangements for a prompt replacement. I also suggest you visit our Support Forum at the link below for setup assistance. Proper setup can be critical for reliable operation and we are confident that we can get you running properly.

On behalf of OCZ, I apologize for the inconvenience!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA OCZ SSD

Pros: none yet

Cons: Got it and it was DOA..
I tried all connections on my main computer and my old XP media box and nothing would see this drive.

Other Thoughts: RMA in the works. I'll update when I get a new one back.

5 out of 5 eggsTesla speed....

Pros: Super fast maxed out the windows hard disc rating response is unreal. Silent and beautiful. Would compare it to a Tesla car ....smoking Ferrari's and Lambos easily. A noticeable difference in speed coming from a 10k hd.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this product to those that want to build a beast of a machine.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT HAPPY OCZ!!!!!

Pros: Good price for capacity.

Cons: I have had the drive since June '12. I never had an issue with it until last night. I got home and my wife told me the MacBook Pro was acting weird. I Target booted it from my other Mac and attempted to Verify and Repair the drive as well as the permissions. The drive wouldn't mount and I couldn't even attempt partition it to test if the drive was bad. I uninstalled the drive and set it up to triage it on a external toaster sled to test if it was my drive or cable. Turns out that the drive was not mountable nor partitionable. It pretty much crapped out after 8 months. I am not ever sure I want to RMA it to OCZ since it may not be worth losing my data every 6-8 months. Come on OCZ, you get great reviews....what happened. I was lucky I had most of my info backed up. But still, the hassle of troubleshooting the drive as well as having to run out and get a Seagate to replace it is really not cool. Not sure if I will invest in another OCZ drive as well maybe removing my Agility from this system since that my crash also.

Other Thoughts: I work in tech support for a "fruit" company. I know how my Mac works and how to troubleshoot a simple issue like this. It sucks that on my day off, I need to act like I am at work, doing the same thing I get paid for. I know hard drives are moving parts and could die at anytime, but a SSD shouldn't die before a regular drive that is stock.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anthony Nicholas,

We are sorry to read of your troubles with the Vertex 3 in your MacBook Pro. We will definitely stand behind the drive and will promptly provide a replacement. Please contact our Support and we will make arrangements with you.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

Kind Regards,
OCZ Support

4 out of 5 eggsAs expected

Pros: Speed

Cons: Power

Other Thoughts: Just as expected, it is noticeably faster than my Intel SSD, but just barely. The difference between any SSD and a HD will blow your hair back.

I do not notice the extra power draw, as it is installed in a desktop system that sleeps / hibernates the whole system intelligently. If the system was more active (e.g. you run SETI all the time), there might be a noticeable difference at billing time. If the system was running on batteries (laptop or off-the-grid) you'll definitely notice the extra draw, at least compared to the Intel SSDs.
