5 out of 5 eggsAffordable, Speedy, Works Great!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Speedy drive, best bang for the buck for a name brand SSD. I put this into an ultra small form factor build I just did it's the third one of these drives I've used. Excellent price and performance. 3 Year Warranty is a plus.

5 out of 5 eggsSSDs are cheap now!

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: What can I say? Its a cheap SSD with a sandforce controller. Could I get another couple percentage points in transfer speed from a much more expensive drive? Yes I could. I dont really care though because compared to a standard HDD its still lightning fast. Love Kingston as well. They are a great company.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Boots faster than my monitor can turn on. This SSD is incredible.
Great Price for size.
I bought it for my gaming PC as a boot and program disk and will probably buy a second larger one for other storage needs.

Cons: It feels cheap. Granted I don't regularly take it out and handle it but the plastic on it feels thin and pliable.
I'd like to see an aluminum casing on it or something denser at least but it doesn't take away from performance so I don't really care all that much.

Other Thoughts: It's soooper light. I'm considering picking up a larger capacity to throw into my laptop.

2 out of 5 eggsone of my least favorite purchase

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: its a ssd. i like the price, so why not, right?

Cons: wrong! not as nearly as fast as i thought it should be. i am running win7 ultimate. "free version" window logo doesn't seems to flash before my eyes like i expected. in fact doeskin seem any faster than computers at my school. no software to trim it either. found that out recently when i got my 1st virus on my rig. overwrote the old os file got it working again, but still trim program would be nice

Other Thoughts: spend the money to get a better product

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for the issue experienced with the V300 drive. This drive is our entry level SSD and offers a speed boost over that of a standard 7200rpm HDD. If you were looking for our fastest SSD, please consider our HyperX 3K SSD which offers 555MB/s read and 510MB/s write versus the V300's 450MB/s read and write. TRIM is an automatic process that takes place in the background when the drive is idle. You can verify if it is enabled in the background of Windows 7 but running this command in command prompt: fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify
This will result in either a 0 or 1, 0 indicates that TRIM is enabled and 1 indicates it is disabled. If you need to enable it, enter: fsutil behavior set DisableDeleteNotify 0
If you suspect the V300 is not performing properly, contact us so we can troubleshoot with you to confirm the issue and take steps to resolve it with you. Please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat speed for the price

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Bought 2 and put into RAID 0. BLAZING fast write speeds. Power button to desktop in 5-7 seconds.

Cons: Read speeds same as a single drive. (46.41 MB/s random) Expected but still a bummer.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst Build SSD

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: -SSD, boots in seconds

Cons: -Don't know if OS is currupted, but I got lots of error and BSoD as I put it as first drive.
-Don't know what happened but in windows experience, it got 7.7 and after OC got 7.2 ... Meanwhile it's speed decreased.

5 out of 5 eggsbad drive - firmware issues

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: none

Cons: They filter comments, last 2 posts were deleted. There is many others with same issue of the SSDtoolbox not seeing drive on my same PC where it sees my hyperx drive. This drive freezes often or gets slow speeds. Will cause "delayed write failures" or "ntsf" errors, so the drive is just bad DOA.

Other Thoughts: I tried to do RMA but room mate tossed the box while I was working on it and now I am stuck with a drive I cant use. WORST purchase on newegg so far.
