Does this model come with a built in stylus?

Accepted Answer

No it does not.  Nor does it come with the matte screen.  The matte screen and stylus are part of a combo package that is not included with this particular model of the Thinkpad Yoga.  That was an unpleasant surprise for me.  I knew the stylus was not included when I ordered, but did not know the matte screen was not included and that was a big selling feature for me.

Can windows 7 be used on this machine?

I was thinking about that before I receive it, however I realized win7 won't work with the touch screen so I did not reinstall win7. I have to admit it takes a little while to get familiar with win8.1, but once you did, it works amazing! I would not recommend you install win7 unless you have to use some software that is win8.1 incompatible.

The spec of this machine is not top-notch but still very powerful, thanks to SSD, the booting time is within 20 seconds. Last but not least, I love the battery life, it's about 7 hours with moderate use. Build quality of this machine is sturdy as all other thinkpad titles, maybe even better than most of those titles. It feels great when you hold it in hand.

Where can I get this machine with Windows 7 Professional?  I've only heard bad things about Windows 8.

Your listening to the wrong people.  If you like Windows 7 you will like 8.  Windows 8 got a bad rap for Metro.  And then people piled on who have either no experience with it or hate Microsoft.  You don't have to use Metro and if you want a real start menu you can install Start8.  The speed of Windows 8 alone would make me never go back to Windows 7.

How do Linux distros run on this hardware?

Ubuntu works perfectly on the ThinkPad Yoga 2-in-1, I do not know about others. I recommend a bigger drive though to install both, Windows and Ubuntu.

Can I purchase the Yoga with Windows 7?

I don't know.  Perhaps from another seller.  I will say I am a long time pc user - starting with command lines in something akin to machine language.  w8.1 is smooth and can be used in a manner very  similar - almost identical - to W7 - only a truly sophisticated user would know the difference. I rarely us the new glitzy stuff of W8.1 - but - I'm using this computer for about 40 years.  I'm fine with 8.1 - especially since the machines, like the one you ask about, are optimized for it.

What version of Win8.1 does this come with? Pro or Home? Given that this is the ThinkPad series, I am hoping we don't have to pay for an anytime upgrade.

Unfortunately, the "Home" version. I found out the hard way. If it doesn't explicitly say "Windows 8.1 Pro", then you'll need the upgrade.

No.  And no digitizer - so a pen will not work with it without getting and installing a digitizer.  I haven't so don't know how well that works.  But I really like the computer - and am very happy with it.  It does well all that it says it will do.
